Background: Breast cancer is an important cause of cancer-related death in women worldwide and represents the second most frequent cause of brain metastases after lung cancer. The aim of this study was to determine the characteristics and outcomes of triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) patients with brain metastasis (BM).
Methods: We retrospectively reviewed a cohort of patients diagnosed with TNBC at the "Instituto Nacional de Enfermedades Neoplasicas" (period 2000-2014) to evaluate patients who developed BM.
Strengthening resilient and sustainable systems for health (RSSH) is central to the Global Fund's strategy, however questions persist about the Global Fund's role in the health systems strengthening space, and the extent to which investments are designed to achieve strengthening objectives, or just fill in gaps in the system. This paper reports on findings from the Prospective Country Evaluations (PCE), a multi-country multi-year evaluation of Global Fund support. We adapted a framework from Chee et al.

The disruption of the synaptic connection between the sensory inner hair cells (IHCs) and the auditory nerve fiber terminals of the type I spiral ganglion neurons (SGN) has been observed early in several auditory pathologies (e.g., noise-induced or ototoxic drug-induced or age-related hearing loss).

Our aim was to analyze the overall survival (OS), distant relapse free survival (DRFS), and survival since the diagnosis of the relapse (MS), according to the side of metastasis.
Methods: This was a retrospective study of TNBC patients with distant metastases at the Instituto Nacional de Enfermedades Neoplasicas (Lima, Peru) from 2000 to 2014.
Dehydrogenation of ammonia borane to well-defined products is an important but challenging reaction. A dinuclear ruthenium complex with a Ru-Ru bond bearing a diazadiene (dad) unit and olefins as non-innocent ligands catalyzes the highly selective formation of conjugated polycondensed borazine oligomers (BNH), predominantly BNH, the BN analogue of superbenzene.

Based on theoretical foundations of well-being, the present study utilized psychometric network analysis to explore prospective associations between the subjective and psychological well-being of adolescents over 2 years. To this end, a cross-sectional network was estimated at Time 1 (n = 560) and Time 2 (n = 281), followed by a longitudinal network incorporating individual changes across time points in each component (n = 235).

Design: We conducted an explanatory, sequential, mixed-methods study. US state- and county-level immunization data were analyzed to understand trends in immunization coverage among racial/ethnic groups.
Introduction: Radiotherapy is one of the standard treatments for brain metastases (BM). Over the past years, the introduction of immunotherapy as routine treatment for solid tumors has forced investigators to review and evaluate how it would interact with radiation. Radiation and Immunotherapy have shown a synergic effect activating the host's immune system and enhancing treatment response.

The increasing use of LDKI as an opioid-sparing agent in multimodal analgesia requires a better understanding of its effects on the cardiovascular response, a known dose-dependent side effect of ketamine administration. We investigated the cardiovascular response of acute pain patients treated with LDKI.

Consequently, we aimed to elucidate whether grape seed proanthocyanidin extract (GSPE) administration recovers the CAF-induced hepatic antioxidant (AOX) misalignment and characterize the chronotherapeutic properties of GSPE. For this purpose, Fischer 344 rats were fed a standard diet (STD) or a CAF and concomitantly treated with GSPE at two time-points (ZT0 vs.

It is regulated by nutrition, genetic factors, physical activity and hormones. Furan fatty acids (FuFAs) are minor fatty acids present in small quantities in food from plants and animals origin.

Commercial Mach-Zehnder modulators (MZMs) are traditionally implemented using LiNbO technology, which does not enable integration for the fabrication of MZMs. In this work, we propose the use of an alternative technology based on InP, which allows for integration in the fabrication process.

Furan fatty acids (FuFAs) are minor lipids present in our diet. Recently we showed that FuFA-F2 extracted from Hevea brasiliensis latex stimulates muscle anabolism in mice in vitro and in vivo, mimicking in part physical activity.

We aimed to generate expert consensus-based recommendations for the management of UAD patients.
Methods: Using a two-round Delphi method, Spanish expert allergists, pulmonologists and otolaryngologists expressed their agreement on 32 statements (52 items) on a 9-point Likert scale, classified as appropriate (median 7-9), uncertain (4-6) or inappropriate (1-3).
Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) B-modes detection is the main focus of future CMB experiments because of the valuable information it contains, particularly to probe the physics of the very early universe. For this reason, we have developed an optimized polarimeter demonstrator sensitive to the 10-20 GHz band in which the signal received by each antenna is modulated into a Near Infrared (NIR) laser by a Mach-Zehnder modulator. Then, these modulated signals are optically correlated and detected using photonic back-end modules consisting of voltage-controlled phase shifters, a 90-degree optical hybrid, a pair of lenses, and an NIR camera.

Purpose: Despite the lack of consensus regarding which life satisfaction domains should be included in the study of children's subjective well-being (SWB), some domains are frequently considered, such as satisfaction with health. However, some others, such as satisfaction with food, are barely taken into account, despite the impact eating habits have on children's health and well-being. We adopt a qualitative approach to explore the role food plays in children's SWB, providing for a more in-depth analysis of children's perceptions and evaluations on a still insufficiently known domain of life satisfaction.

Although the probability of grade ≥ II toxicities is low, many patients present radiological subclinical toxicities usually associated with long-term patient management challenges. We evaluated radiological changes and correlated them with the received Biological Equivalent Dose (BED).

The association between perceptions of the neighborhood and subjective well-being (SWB) was analyzed based on a mediation model using satisfaction with the neighborhood as a mediating variable. The overall results showed high average SWB scores for both countries as well as high levels of satisfaction with the neighborhoods where they live.

This paper presents a polarization calibration method applied to a microwave polarimeter demonstrator based on a near-infrared (NIR) frequency up-conversion stage that allows both optical correlation and signal detection at a wavelength of 1550 nm. The instrument was designed to measure the polarization of cosmic microwave background (CMB) radiation from the sky, obtaining the Stokes parameters of the incoming signal simultaneously, in a frequency range from 10 to 20 GHz. A linearly polarized input signal with a variable polarization angle is used as excitation in the polarimeter calibration setup mounted in the laboratory.
