The malleable prosthetic implant is widely accepted among patients and physicians owing to a lower degree of surgical complexity, its rare mechanic failures and lower cost. We have compared the degree of satisfaction with malleable prosthetic implant in 60 patients, 36 with Spectra (AMS) and 24 with Genesis (Coloplast). For assessment purposes, we implemented the Erectile Dysfunction Inventory of Treatment Satisfaction (EDITS) satisfaction questionnaire adapted for penile prosthetic implants.

Unlabelled: Erectile dysfunction (ED) and lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) due to benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) are often associated, and they both reduce the quality of life of those who suffer from these conditions.

Objectives: Primarily, to determine the relationship of LUTS/BPH as an independent risk factor for suffering ED and, secondarily, the relationship of LUTS/BPH and ED according to the severity of the symptoms.

Methods: A descriptive, analytic, multicentre study was carried out in 580 patients consulting for prostatic control or LUTS.

Introduction: Naturalistic clinical trials provide data on the effectiveness of drugs in nonexperimental and everyday situations and are extremely helpful for decision-making purposes and for confirming experimental findings in clinical trials. No data have been published from naturalistic studies performed in patients with lower urinary tract symptoms suggestive of benign prostatic hyperplasia (LUTS/BPH) with or without erectile dysfunction (ED) and treated with phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors.

Aim: The aim of this study (TadaLutsEd Study) was to assess, in the context of medical practice, the effectiveness of tadalafil 5 mg once daily in patients with LUTS/BPH with or without erectile dysfunction.

Purpose: We evaluated the role of inducible nitric oxide synthase and PPARγ as prognostic factors for bladder cancer.

Materials And Methods: Inducible nitric oxide synthase and PPARγ were evaluated by Western blot and immunohistochemistry in a mouse bladder cancer model of nonmuscle invasive and invasive MB49-I tumor cells, and in human bladder cancer samples.

Results: Inducible nitric oxide synthase expression was negative in mouse normal urothelium and higher in invasive than in noninvasive MB49 tumors.

Background: Bacillus Calmette-Guerin (BCG) is the most effective treatment for non-muscle invasive bladder cancer. However, a failure in the initial response or relapse within the first five years of treatment has been observed in 20% of patients. We have previously observed that in vivo administration of an inhibitor of nitric oxide improved the response to BCG of bladder tumor bearing mice.

Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) is the most effective treatment for superficial and in situ transitional bladder cancer. Although the complete mechanisms for its effect are not fully understood yet, both immunological and direct effects on tumor cells have been proposed. It has been proposed that apoptotic tumor cells could be better inducers of immunity than necrotic ones.

Background: Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a chronic disease; however, therapy is currently administered as needed with oral phosphodiesterase 5 (PDE5) inhibitors like tadalafil. Because the 17.5-h half-life of tadalafil enables therapeutic plasma levels to be sustained with daily administration, tadalafil is a good candidate for once daily dosing therapy.
