Objective: We have developed a novel method for estimating brain tissue electrical conductivity using low-intensity pulse stereoelectroencephalography (SEEG) stimulation coupled with biophysical modeling. We evaluated the hypothesis that brain conductivity is correlated with the degree of epileptogenicity in patients with drug-resistant focal epilepsy.
Methods: We used bipolar low-intensity biphasic pulse stimulation (.
The COVID-19 pandemic has underlined the need for reliable information for clinical decision-making and public health policies. As such, evidence-based medicine (EBM) is essential in identifying and evaluating scientific documents pertinent to novel diseases, and the accurate classification of biomedical text is integral to this process. Given this context, we introduce a comprehensive, curated dataset composed of COVID-19-related documents.

Novel severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is the etiologic agent of the ongoing coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, which has reached 28 million cases worldwide in 1 year. The serological detection of antibodies against the virus will play a pivotal role in complementing molecular tests to improve diagnostic accuracy, contact tracing, vaccine efficacy testing, and seroprevalence surveillance. Here, we aimed first to evaluate a lateral flow assay's ability to identify specific IgM and IgG antibodies against SARS-CoV-2 and second, to report the seroprevalence estimates of these antibodies among health care workers and healthy volunteer blood donors in Panama.

Objective: We aimed at providing an accurate estimation of human brain tissue electrical conductivity in clinico, using local, low-intensity pulsed stimulation.
Methods: Using the quasi-static approximation of Maxwell equations, we derived an analytical model of the electric field generated by intracerebral stereotactic-EEG (SEEG) electrodes. We coupled this electric field model with a model of the electrode-electrolyte interface to provide an explicit, analytical expression of brain tissue conductivity based on the recorded brain tissue response to pulse stimulation.
After years of discussion by the Chilean legislature, the Law Nº 20.584, which regulates health care related rights and duties of people, entered into force in Chile in October 2012. This bill represents an important step in the recognition and protection of health care related rights, welfare, dignity and duties of persons.

We report the case of a patient with a recurrent infection of the tonsils who received clindamycin. Pancytopenia, a previously unreported hematological disorder related to clindamycin use, was observed in conjunction with the infection and clindamycin treatment.

Objective: To study the role of the left basal occipitotemporal area and its white matter pathways.
Methods: Three patients underwent awake surgery for lesions in the left basal posterotemporal region with intraoperative electrostimulations.
Background: Adult Still's disease is an inflammatory disorder characterized by quotidian fevers, and an evanescent rash. Its presentation can be acute or subacute.
Aim: To report our experience with Adult Still's disease.
In the present time, the advances in sciences brought by technology are worshiped. This contributes to dehumanize human relationships. Medical profession is a commitment to oneself, society and social justice.

Aim: To evaluate the use of MTX and the results of treatment in a group of patients with SLE.
Patients And Methods: Retrospective review of 426 files of patients with SLE.
It is usually inevitable to save the physician-patient relationship from the effects of medical errors. It is so because either the professional responsibility, the patients trust and the principles that govern the medical action are compromised by such events. The possibility to learn from it, prevent its appearance, improve the procedures and curtail its consequences, is linked to developing ethical attitudes to overcome these circumstances without further legal accountability.

Periarticular involvement was much more common in diabetics (p < 0.01) including limitation of joint mobility (hands) (40% vs 9%), Dupuytren (29% vs 2%), palmar synovitis (59% vs 7%) and capsulitis (16% vs 1%).

Juvenile dermatomyositis (JDM) is a chronic, inflammatory degenerative entity with multisystemic involvement, particularly of skin and striated muscle. This is a description of the clinical features, laboratory findings and treatment results in 10 children with JDM which were under control along a 14 years period (1974-1988) in a general hospital at metropolitan Santiago, Chile. Onset was insidious in 8 cases and acute in the remaining patients.
