Introduction: The transition from paediatric to adult health care (i.e., 'health care transition') poses many challenges for youth with medical complexity (YMC) and their families.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground: A growing population of youth with medical complexity (YMC) are entering adult health care, education, and social systems in which their needs have been largely neglected. To better support YMC and their families, an understanding of how they manage the challenges of transitioning to adult services is needed. The aim of this study was to examine how families of YMC adapt to challenges and opportunities posed by the youth's transition to adulthood and transfer to adult services.

To address this need, the Negative Symptom Inventory-Psychosis Risk (NSI-PR) was developed based on the iterative, data-driven approach recommended by the National Institute of Mental Health consensus conference on negative symptoms.
Study Design: This manuscript reports the results of the second study phase that psychometrically validates the final 11-item version of the scale in data collected across 3 sites.
Vulnerability to sound distraction is commonly reported in older adults with dementia and tends to be associated with adverse impacts on daily activity. However, study outcome heterogeneity is increasingly evident, with preserved resistance to distraction also evident. Contributory factors may include individual differences in distractibility in older adulthood per se, and failure to consider the influence of how difficult a person found the test.

Few data exist concerning the steady state ventilatory responses during head-down tilt. We examined the cardiorespiratory responses during acute 50° head-down tilt (HDT) in 18 healthy subjects (mean [SD] age 27 [10] years).

This review aims to summarise current literature reporting on learning curves for surgeons newly adopting robotic bariatrics and implications for safety, efficiency and outcomes. A systematic review was performed in line with the PRISMA guidelines.

Yet, how global change will reshape the future of human-wildlife overlap has not been assessed. We show that the potential spatial overlap of global human populations and 22,374 terrestrial vertebrate species will increase across ~56.

In primary care it has led to increases in the implementation of nurse practitioners and heightened interest in their patient panel capacity. The aim of this study was to examine factors influencing nurse practitioner patient panel size in team-based primary care in Ontario, Canada.

In response to this growing concern, interventions aimed at enhancing social-emotional skills and promoting mental health are more crucial than ever.
Objective: This global study aimed to examine the effectiveness of a self-care program on anxiety, loneliness, and satisfaction with life in high school students and staff in a randomized, waitlist control trial with baseline and postintervention assessments.
Objective: To determine timing and risk factors associated with readmission within 30 days of discharge following noncardiac surgery.
Background: Hospital readmission after noncardiac surgery is costly. Data on the drivers of readmission have largely been derived from single-center studies focused on a single surgical procedure with uncertainty regarding generalizability.
Objective: The objective of this review was to assess and synthesize evidence on the effectiveness and safety of self-management interventions for improving glycemic control and health-related quality of life among adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in sub-Saharan Africa.
Introduction: There has been a rapid increase in the prevalence of T2DM in sub-Saharan Africa. Lifestyle-related risk factors require self-management strategies, and these must be tailored to the context.

Recent advances in automated algebra for dilute Fermi gases in the virial expansion, where coarse temporal lattices were found advantageous, motivate the study of more general computational schemes that could be applied to arbitrary densities, beyond the dilute limit where the virial expansion is physically reasonable. We propose here such an approach by developing what we call the Quantum Thermodynamics Computational Engine (QTCE). In QTCE, the imaginary-time direction is discretized and the interaction is accounted for via a quantum cumulant expansion, where the coefficients are expressed in terms of non-interacting expectation values.

We drafted items based on qualitative research and refined the items through cognitive interviews and expert sorting. We used one national dataset to evaluate the internal structure of the measure and a second national dataset to examine how responses on the MURS related to theoretically relevant constructs and student characteristics.

With the introduction of robotic surgery, the numbers of robot-assisted cholecystectomies has risen over the past decade. Despite the proven use of this procedure as a training operation for those surgeons adopting robotics, the consumable cost of routine robotic cholecystectomy can be difficult to justify in the absence of evidence favouring or disputing this approach.

Treatments are available; however, resistance to drugs is a major problem for treating oral and throat infections. Three-dimensional printing (3DP) of fast dissolving oral films (FDFs) of linalool oil may provide an alternative solution.

In one Canadian CMH program, NPs have existed for 20 years but not been evaluated. This study aimed to understand stakeholder perceptions of CMH NP role structures, processes, and outcomes and the extent to which the role meets patient and health service needs.

Using two waves of data from the Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development Study ( = 6,778 at each wave), the current study tested whether the relations between sex and psychopathology might be accounted for by structural brain differences. In general, we found robust, relatively consistent relations between sex and structural morphometry across waves.

Yet, oral diseases remain prevalent worldwide, necessitating a practical approach. This opinion paper seeks to clarify the role of teledentistry as an adjunct for improving oral health when access to oral care services is one of the major concerns.
