Health (and its dialectical pair-illness) is determined by multiple factors: social class, educational background, income, occupation, and race/skin color. Racism can directly impact physical and psychological illnesses, with an effect on social conditions of health. This paper discusses: (1) racism as a root cause of health inequities in Brazil and elsewhere, and (2) how students at the University of Brasilia School of Medicine respond to an anti-racist curriculum.

This article describes a study based on a qualitative approach that aimed to analyze the social representations of opinion makers about the right and access to health in the cross-border territoriality of Foz do Iguaçu-Paraná. To achieve that goal, interviews were conducted with leaders of social movements, university professors, health workers and journalists. Moscovici's Social Representations Theory was used with a focus on the three-dimensional analysis to process data.

We report a case of an asymptomatic, 77-year-old, male patient with arterial hypertension and no other comorbidities or risk factors for coronary disease. During a routine abdominal ultrasound examination, he was diagnosed with a hepatic vascular mass with an approximate diameter of 5 cm. Abdominal computed angiotomography was requested, showing an aneurysm of the hepatic artery, with maximum diameter of up to 5.

Background: Combinations of minimally invasive procedures (MIPs) are often used in aesthetic treatments and are increasingly considered as the new standard of care. Three agents with specific properties are available in this perspective: a polycaprolactone (PCL)-based collagen stimulator, a poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA)- and a poly-glycolic acid (PLGA)-based resorbable suspension suture with a 3D-cone technology, and a cross-linked hyaluronic acid (HA).

Objective: To develop the first practice guidelines on rejuvenation treatment of the face and the neck using combinations of these agents, whether associated or not with other widely used MIPs such as botulinum neurotoxins or energy-based devices.

The article analyzes the process of reconstructing the nursing profession in Brazil post-1930. We examine teaching practices in higher education and the reinsertion of black women in professional nursing through the biography of Lydia das Dôres Matta, a nurse trained in the second class graduated from the São Paulo School of Nursing as a scholarship student in the Special Public Health Service Nursing Program. The results allow reflections on the professional identity of Brazilian nursing from the trajectory of a black woman, as well as on the historiography of nursing in Brazil.

Third molar extraction is one of the most frequently performed procedures in the dental clinic, and it is associated with innumerable trans- and postoperative complications, such as pain, trismus, edema, localized alveolar osteitis, and surgical site infection. Some authors advocate the use of local or systemic antibiotics to reduce the incidence of these postoperative complications. However, several studies have revealed an insignificant gain after using antibiotics.

It aimed at describing data according to categories and analyse themes most cited in the content of the nursing records. The 13C turnover rates of the liver and thoracic pectoral muscle of growing broilers were determined by feeding diets with varying 13C content. Male chicks (1-d-old) were subjected to treatments based on free choice of 5 different mixes of energy and protein sources from plants with C3 and C4 photosynthetic pathways that had differing 13C content. Rice bran (R) and soybean meal (S) were the C3 sources, while maize (C) and maize gluten meal (G) were the C4 sources.
