The objective of the current study was to describe the perspectives of people who use illicit drugs regarding the availability and effectiveness of drug treatment services. A total of 111 participants with illicit drug use experience were recruited from an inner city community in São Paulo, Brazil. Treatment services were considered to be essential and necessary by the majority of participants, whereas general hospitals and mental health services were considered to be the most highly available treatment options for illicit drug use.

A mutator genotype ( polymorphism) inducing a mismatch repair defect has been recently proposed to be responsible for resistance acquisition in clinical isolates. Introduction: In recent years the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation (GRADE) methodology has often been used by international or national health authorities, or scientific societies, for developing evidence-based treatment recommendations. However, the GRADE approach has never been used by practicing physicians who aim at harmonizing their prescribing behaviours paying due attention to the best available evidence. Liver transplantation is an accepted option of treatment in patients with inborn errors of metabolism limited to or mainly located into hepatocytes who have not responded well to medical treatment. Recurrent metabolic failure and neurological impairment might be an indication for early transplantation in patients with organic acidaemias. We discuss the anaesthetic management and metabolic implications of acidaemia in the first two cases of successfully treated propionic and methylmalonic acidaemia in Italy.
