Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore experiences of women currently with or at high risk for developing postpartum depression (PPD) who were participating in a postpartum support group facilitated by mental health providers.
Study Design And Methods: Using a qualitative design, women ≥18 years of age, who had given birth within the past 2 years, and who were currently attending, or had attended the PPD support group within the past year were invited to participate. The women provided demographic data and participated in a semistructured face-to-face interview.
Objective: Making diagnostic and accommodation decisions for potential Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in adults is difficult, as the assessor often relies more on self-reported symptoms and functional disability than in childhood evaluations. Malingering of ADHD occurs frequently in the educational setting and for a variety of reasons, including the potential benefits of access to stimulant medications and academic accommodations.
Method: The present study utilized a simulation design to examine the potential for malingering of self-reported functional disability on the World Health Organization Disability Schedule 2.
Objective: Attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) can be easily presented in a non-credible manner, through non-credible report of ADHD symptoms and/or by non-credible performance on neuropsychological tests. While most studies have focused on detection of non-credible performance using performance validity tests, there are few studies examining the ability to detect non-credible report of ADHD symptoms. We provide further validation data for a recently developed measure of non-credible ADHD symptom report, the Conner's Adult ADHD Rating Scales (CAARS) Infrequency Index (CII).

Experimental Design: The activity of PKC was assayed in intact cells using a modification of published techniques. The U937 cell line and peripheral blood mononuclear cells were stimulated with phorbol ester, fixed, permeabilized, and reacted with an antibody specific for the phosphorylated forms of PKC substrates.
Objectives: Previously, we demonstrated glucose-induced beta-cell tyrosine phosphorylation of p130Cas, a protein containing 15 YXXP repeats that can become tyrosine phosphorylated and bind Src-homology 2 (SH2)-containing proteins. In light of the importance of p130Cas in other cell types, we determined which beta-cell proteins exhibited glucose-induced association with p130Cas.
Methods: beta cells were stimulated with glucose and/or the muscarinic agonist carbachol to determine which SH2-containing adapter proteins underwent glucose-induced association with p130Cas.
The neurotransmitter serotonin (5HT) has been shown to modulate mobility, feeding, egg-laying, and defecation behaviors in the saprophytic nematode Caenorhabditis elegans. Although the effects of serotonin on these behaviors in parasitic nematodes is under study, little is known about the diversity, ontogeny, signaling, and pharmacology of serotonin receptors in these organisms. In an effort to increase our understanding of this system, we cloned and characterized a novel cDNA (5HT1Hc) from the parasitic nematode Haemonchus contortus that has high amino acid sequence homology with known G-protein coupled 5HT1-receptors from invertebrates and vertebrates.
