Collecting large amounts of radiotherapy (RT) data from clinical systems is known to be a challenging task. Still, data collections outside the original RT systems are needed to follow-up on the quality of cancer care and to improve RT. This paper aims to describe how RT data is collected nationally in Denmark and Sweden for this purpose and gives an overview of the stored information in both countries' national data sources.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study explored the relationship between ischemic heart disease (IHD) and the recurrence of atrial fibrillation (AF) after catheter ablation in patients, using data from Danish registries between 2010 and 2020.
  • - It found that while preexisting IHD initially seemed to increase the risk of AF recurrence, this association disappeared after adjusting for other factors; however, new-onset IHD after ablation was linked to a significantly higher risk of AF recurrence.
  • - The conclusion suggests that IHD doesn't hinder the effectiveness of AF ablation, but developing IHD after the procedure may trigger recurrent AF episodes that the ablation didn't fully suppress.

The ratio of early transmitral filling velocity to early diastolic strain rate (E/SRe) has been proposed as a new non-invasive measurement of left ventricular filling pressure. We aimed to investigate the ability of E/SRe to predict atrial fibrillation (AF) after ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). This was a prospective cohort study of patients (n = 369) with STEMI.

Patients should never have to worry about getting an infection while in hospital. Yet every year, many hospitalized Canadians continue to acquire an infection during their hospital stay and experience increased morbidity and mortality as a result of these healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) (PHAC 2019b). Measuring and monitoring HAIs provide key data to better understand the magnitude of the problem.

People with physical disabilities (PD) suffer from consequences due to lack of physical activity and consequently, are at increased risk of chronic diseases. We aimed to evaluate the ability of a motorised assistive device for dynamic standing with weight-bearing in addition to standard state-of-the-art therapy to improve clinical outcome in a meta-analysis of available studies. A total of 11 studies were identified from different European countries analysing the effect of the dynamic device Innowalk.

Introduction: Pork roast is part of the traditional Danish Christmas meal and has been so for several hundreds of years. A novel cooking method is sous vide, in which the meat under vacuum is cooked for a long time at low temperature. Can MRI predict the optimal type of traditional pork roast and the optimal preparation method: oven or sous vide preparation?

Methods: Two different pork roasts, one from an ordinary pig and one from a pig from an organic farm, were divided in two and randomised to oven cooking or sous vide.

Background: RAS and RAF mutations in colorectal cancer (CRC) hold value in precision medicine. Liquid biopsy is an alternative to tumor tissue biopsy, and circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) has been intensively investigated, but the clinical relevance of RAS and RAF mutations in plasma is yet to be determined. This study aimed to investigate the clinical aspects of RAS/RAF mutations during combination treatment.

Background: Precision medicine calls for an early indicator of treatment efficiency. Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) is a promising marker in this setting. Our prospective study explored the association between disease development and change of ctDNA during first line chemotherapy in patients with RAS/RAF mutated metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC).

Purpose To establish the safety profile and antitumor activity of the anti-programmed death 1 receptor monoclonal antibody, pembrolizumab, in patients with recurrent or metastatic nasopharyngeal carcinoma (RM-NPC) that expressed programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1). Patients and Methods KEYNOTE-028 (NCT02054806) is a nonrandomized, multicohort, phase Ib trial of pembrolizumab in patients with PD-L1-positive advanced solid tumors. Key eligibility criteria for the NPC cohort included unresectable or metastatic disease, failure on prior standard therapy, and PD-L1 expression in 1% or more of tumor cells or tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes.

Background: A family history of myocardial infarction (FHMI) has been shown to increase the risk of venous thromboembolism (VTE). The mechanism underlying the association remains unclear. Therefore, we aimed to determine the risks of MI and VTE by FHMI using a cause-specific model and to explore whether atherosclerotic risk factors could explain the association between FHMI and VTE in a population-based cohort.

A feared complication to liver trauma is delayed vascular complication, such as pseudoaneurysm and arteriovenous fistula (PS/AF) seen as focal enhancement on contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CT) in the arterial phase. A hyperdense area termed transient hepatic attenuation difference (THAD) representing altered hepatic blood flow can be seen in the arterial phase near the liver lesion. The objective of this study was to describe THAD and PS/AF on follow-up CT after blunt liver trauma, and to evaluate if THAD influenced the evaluation of PS/AF.

Introduction: Despite rehabilitation programmes offered to all patients with newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes in Denmark, a number of patients either never accomplish good diabetes regulation or the regulation deteriorates with time. Therefore, new approaches are needed. The aim of the present study is to examine whether telemedicine conferences with a nurse can contribute to achieving good diabetes control among patients with poorly regulated type 2 diabetes.

Image fusion involving real-time ultrasound (US) is a technique where previously recorded computed tomography (CT) or magnetic resonance images (MRI) are reformatted in a projection to fit the real-time US images after an initial co-registration. The co-registration aligns the images by means of common planes or points. We evaluated the accuracy of the alignment when varying parameters as patient position, respiratory phase and distance from the co-registration points/planes.

Placenta percreta is a rare life-threatening obstetrical condition, often resulting in severe haemorrhage and hysterectomy. The incidence seems to be increasing, probably secondary to the increase in caesarean section rates. We present a protocol for an elective multidisciplinary approach with proactive management to reduce haemorrhage and allow appropriate surgery, which imply a low maternal and fetal morbidity as well as maintained fertility.

The imaging modalities computed tomography (CT) and the ultrasonography (US) examination focused assessment with sonography for trauma (FAST) in relation to damage control in traumas are discussed. CT has the advantage of high sensitivity and specificity for detection of organ specific lesions. FAST ultrasound is a good screening tool for intraperitoneal bleeding, but the sensitivity and specificity is lower than by CT.
