Objectives: Admission hyperglycemia is a penumbra-modifying factor that is associated with poor functional outcome in acute ischemic stroke (AIS) patients treated with intravenous rt-PA and/or mechanical thrombectomy (MT). Insulin therapy has failed to demonstrate a clinical benefit and the question of the patient selection remains under debate. We assessed the relationship between admission glycemia (AG) and functional outcome in AIS patients treated by MT according to both penumbra characteristics and reperfusion status.

Article Synopsis
  • Intracranial cerebral hemorrhage (ICH) is a significant but poorly understood complication in patients with left-sided infective endocarditis (IE), with a 7% incidence among 963 cases studied from 2000 to 2015.
  • The study identified five key risk factors linked to ICH, including low platelet count, severe valve regurgitation, and the presence of mycotic aneurysms, while also classifying ICH mechanisms into three categories: ruptured mycotic aneurysms, hemorrhage after ischemic stroke, and undetermined causes.
  • Although overall mortality was not significantly affected by ICH, one-year mortality rates varied by mechanism, and patients who did not undergo surgery had a

Background: Intermittent theta burst stimulation (iTBS) of the primary motor cortex improves transiently lower limbs spasticity in multiple sclerosis (MS). However, the cerebral mechanisms underlying this effect have never been investigated.

Objective: To assess whether modulation of spasticity induced by iTBS is underlined by functional reorganization of the primary motor cortices.

Striatal hypermetabolism on 18FDG-PET scan is a neuroradiological finding that has been described in association with autoimmune disorders such as Sydenham chorea, lupus or antiphospholipid syndrome. Here, we report three patients with non-paraneoplastic limbic encephalitis characterized by 18FDG-PET hypermetabolism of both striata, in contrast with diffuse hypometabolism in the rest of the brain. All patients developed subacute dementia, and antibodies to voltage-gated potassium channels were found in all cases.
