Background: Rapid recognition of pediatric out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (POHCA) is a critical component to prompt initiation of bystander interventions. We aimed to investigate barriers for responding to POHCA during emergency medical calls.

Methods And Results: We included all POHCA calls (aged 0-18 years) from the emergency dispatch center in the Capital Region of Denmark between 2018 and 2021 and excluded POHCAs with no resuscitation order, found dead, where trained health professionals were on site, or where there was no possibility for initiation of cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

Up to 70% of all sudden cardiac deaths (SCD) in persons under 50 years are due to inherited cardiovascular diseases. First-degree relatives to younger SCD patients should be evaluated for inherited cardiovascular disease, as argued in this review. An improved understanding of SCD subtypes and genetics is expected to improve risk stratification and SCD prevention.

Importance: Allocating resources to increase survival after cardiac arrest requires survivors to have a good quality of life, but long-term data are lacking.

Design, Setting, And Participants: This survey study used the EuroQol Health Questionnaire, 12-Item Short Form Health Survey (SF-12), and Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) to assess the health-related quality of life of all adult survivors of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest included in the Danish Cardiac Arrest Registry between June 1, 2001, and August 31, 2019, who were alive in October 2020 (follow-up periods, 0-1, >1-2, >2-4, >4-6, >6-8, >8-10, >10-15, and >15-20 years since arrest).
