Infections in patients using ventricular-assist devices: Comparison of the diagnostic performance of F-FDG PET/CT scan and leucocyte-labeled scintigraphy.

Background: The usage of left-ventricular-assist device (LVAD) is increasing in patients presenting with advanced heart failure. However, device-related infections are a challenge to recognize and to treat, with an important morbidity and mortality rate. The role of nuclear medicine imaging remains not well established for LVAD infections.

FDG PET/CT in Pediatric Neurolymphomatosis.

An 8-year-old girl presented with back and leg pain and left arm and leg paresis. Lumbar puncture was suggestive of lymphocytic meningitis without identified organism. A second lumbar puncture demonstrated a large number of lymphoid B cells, with positive immunohistochemical staining for CD20 and CD25, proving the diagnosis of neurolymphomatosis.

Putative Physiopathological Explanation for the "Sock Sign" in Bone Scans.

Four patients were referred to our department to undergo a bone scan for suspected reflex sympathetic dystrophy in the upper limbs. After TC-HMDP injection in the foot, they developed a "sock sign," defined by highly increased uptake in the injected lower limb. The sock sign has been previously described in only 1 case in the literature and attributed to intra-arterial injection.
