Palliative radiation therapy for patients with orbital and ocular metastases.

Background: Patients with cancer may develop metastases to the orbit causing distressing symptoms. External beam radiation therapy (RT) is an effective palliative treatment for patients with orbital and ocular metastases. The aim of treatment is to preserve vision and to reduce pain.

The valence of attentional bias and cancer-related rumination in posttraumatic stress and posttraumatic growth among women with breast cancer.

Objective: To examine the effects of self-reported attentional bias on posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms and posttraumatic growth (PTG) through the potential mediator of cancer-related rumination.

Design: A cross-sectional survey design was used and women with breast cancer (N=170) were recruited.

Measures: Attentional biases, cancer-related ruminations, PTSD symptoms, and PTG were assessed.

Large-cell neuroendocrine carcinoma of the uterine cervix complicating pregnancy.

Large-cell neuroendocrine cervical carcinoma is a rare and aggressive cancer that tends to spread and recur early despite intensive multimodal treatment. The optimal mode of therapy is still controversial and management during pregnancy is challenging because foetal well-being must also be considered. We report a patient with clinically stage IIB large-cell neuroendocrine cervical carcinoma who presented with a cervical polyp and vaginal bleeding at 18 weeks of pregnancy.
