An Interdisciplinary Intervention Based on Prescription of Physical Activity, Diet, and Positive Mental Health to Promote Healthy Lifestyle in Patients with Obesity: A Randomized Control Trial.

This study used a multimodal approach to address the issue of obesity among individuals with a Body Mass Index (BMI) between 30 and 40 residing in a rural region of north-east Spain. A pretest-posttest model was employed in a clinical trial design, comparing an intervention group with a control group. The intervention, which lasted for a period of nine months, was based on three main strategies: the prescription of physical activity, the promotion of healthy nutritional habits, and the management of emotional wellbeing through Positive Mental Health (PMH).

The experiences of family members of persons with intellectual disabilities who used residential care homes during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Background: The global COVID-19 pandemic has shown the vulnerability of some population groups, including persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).

Aim: The present paper will provide more clarity and understanding of the experiences of family members of persons with IDD housed in residential facilities in Catalonia within the period of maximum restrictions during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Methods And Procedures: Semi-structured interviews were conducted using an interpretive phenomenological qualitative approach.

Impact of a PROgram of Cardiovascular nursE interventionS in a VALVular haEmodynamic Unit (PROCESS-VALVE) on Quality Indicators: A Quasi-Experimental Ambispective Study.

Background: The percutaneous treatment of heart valve diseases carried out in the hemodynamic service is constantly growing. After analyzing the mortality, readmissions, success of the procedure, and complications, several studies support this type of percutaneous procedure. The increase in these procedures has required the creation of multidisciplinary teams and new diagnostic and care circuits, such as presurgical consultations and postsurgical follow-ups.

Adaptation, implementation, and evaluation of an online health sciences training program for brief smoking intervention: A pre-post study in four European countries.

Background: Tobacco cessation intervention has a positive impact on quality of care. For health professionals, limited competency in this area may be associated with poor training during their academic programs. There is a clear need to further develop and implement training programs to improve tobacco cessation knowledge, skills, and attitudes among healthcare students.

Passive exposure and perceptions of smoke-free policies in hospital and university campuses among nursing students: A cross-sectional multicenter study.

Introduction: Outdoor smoke-free regulations reduce exposure to secondhand smoke (SHS) and help to denormalize tobacco use. As future key agents in health promotion, nursing students' attitudes should agree with tobacco-control policies. The objectives of this study were: 1) assess nursing students' exposure to SHS in nursing schools, 2) explore their perceptions of compliance with the existing smoke-free regulations in acute-care hospitals; and 3) describe their support for indoor and outdoor smoking bans on hospital and university campuses.

Nursing Intervention to Improve Positive Mental Health and Self-Care Skills in People with Chronic Physical Health Conditions.

The exponential increase in the number of people suffering chronic illness has become a problem for which healthcare services need a response. The inclusion of self-care and positive mental health as part of a strategy to promote health offers an opportunity for a reorganization oriented towards community spaces and group interventions. This study undertook the assessment of an intervention designed to optimize the agency of and capacity for self-care and positive mental health by utilizing activities drawn from the Nursing Intervention Classification (NIC), specifically from Field 3 (Behavioral), and organized as a program called PIPsE.

A Communicative Intervention to Improve the Psychoemotional State of Critical Care Patients Transported by Ambulance.

Background: Communication is key to understanding the emotional state of critical care patients.

Objective: To analyze the effectiveness of the communicative intervention known as CONECTEM, which incorporates basic communication skills and augmentative alternative communication, in improving pain, anxiety, and posttraumatic stress disorder symptoms in critical care patients transported by ambulance.

Aim: The aim of this study was to design and validate a questionnaire to analyze students' expectations, along with their level of interest and overall satisfaction with their nursing studies.

Background: The expectations of students on entering university are closely related to the level of interest that they have in their area of study and their general satisfaction with it. This is certainly a conditioning factor in their learning.

Positive Mental Health and Prevalence of Psychological Ill-Being in University Nursing Professors in Catalonia, Spain.

The aim of the current study was to examine the prevalence of psychological ill-being among university nursing professors in Spain and determine their grade of positive mental health. A cross-sectional study was conducted from June 2013 to December 2013 with a sample of 263 university nursing professors. Sociodemographic and occupational variables, as well as variables related to daily habits and lifestyle, were collected.

Psychometric evaluation of a new instrument in Spanish to measure the wellness of university nursing faculty.

The aim of this study was to design and validate an instrument to measure the wellness among university nursing faculty. The study was performed in two phases. Phase I consisted of the development of the instrument with discussion groups and participant consensus.

What is the perception of biological risk by undergraduate nursing students?

Objective: to analyze undergraduate nursing students' perception of biological risk and its relationship with their prior practical training.

Method: a descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted among undergraduate nursing students enrolled in clinical practice courses in the academic year 2013-2014 at the School of Nursing at the University of Barcelona.

Variables: sociodemographic variables, employment, training, clinical experience and other variables related to the assessment of perceived biological risk were collected.

Critical thinking in nursing: Scoping review of the literature.

This article seeks to analyse the current state of scientific knowledge concerning critical thinking in nursing. The methodology used consisted of a scoping review of the main scientific databases using an applied search strategy. A total of 1518 studies published from January 1999 to June 2013 were identified, of which 90 met the inclusion criteria.

[Severe acute liver failure: a case study].

Fulminant hepatic failure (FHF), also known as fulminant hepatitis, is a rare and extremely serious condition with a high mortality rate. Its rapid evolution and complexity in managing the treatment, creates the need to provide some immediate care by a team that specialises in intensive care. This acute decompensation is usually associated with other disorders, such as coagulopathy and hepatic encephalopathy, being responsible for major complications that can lead to organ failure.

[Updated review on the prevention of biological hazards in the nursing students].

If the carrying out a practices is something extremely important in all degree studies, in the case of nursing this is something even more fundamental and of great educational impact. During that period, students not only put their knowledge and theory into practice, they get in touch with reality and they also expose themselves to a series of risks inherent to our profession. In addition to that, one has to take into account the appearance of various factors that aggravate their susceptibility, their inexperience as professionals, their exposure to some degree of stress due to the variable conditions and uncertainties in their environment, the lack of coverage under the PRL law makes this group more vulnerable to the risks.
