View Article and Find Full Text PDFA study is made to determine the true incidence of oral lesions attributable to hematological malignancies and their therapies, with the purpose of preventing, diagnosing and treating the oral manifestations of the hematological disorder and the situations of mucositis produced by the different chemo or radiotherapeutic regimens administered. A review was made of patients with hematological malignancies undergoing treatment or programmed for hematopoietic transplantation, with clinical assessment and microbiological culture or histological study where required. A protocol is developed in these patients for the prophylaxis, control and management of their oral lesions, thus contributing to improve the knowledge and treatment of patients with hematological malignancies.
