Background And Purpose: To report the factors predictive of radio-induced complications (i.e. radiation retinopathy [RR], radiation papillopathy [RP] and neovascular glaucoma [NVG]) in uveal melanoma (UM) patients undergoing gamma knife radiosurgery (GKR).
View Article and Find Full Text PDFGamma Knife radiosurgery (GKRS) is a well-established safe and effective treatment for trigeminal neuralgia (TN) with high initial success rate (80-90%). Why the pain relief is progressively decreased with time is a matter of considerable debate. To investigate factors related to long-lasting pain relief, the authors conducted a retrospective analysis focusing on anatomical and radiosurgical related parameters, chosen according to literature review.

Methods: Trigeminal cisternal length, pontotrigeminal angle, and distance between middle of the shot and emergence were evaluated in 112 consecutive GKRS plans for trigeminal neuralgia.
Background: Few studies have evaluated the relationship between brain arteriovenous malformations (bAVMs) angioarchitecture and the response to Gamma Knife Stereotactic Radiosurgery (GKSR).
Methods: A prospectively enrolled single-center cohort of patients with bAVMs treated by GKSR has been studied to define independent predictors of obliteration with particular attention to angioarchitectural variables. Only patients older than 18 years old (y.
Altered macrophage infiltration upon tissue damage results in inadequate healing due to inappropriate remodeling and stem cell recruitment and differentiation. We investigated whether cells of endothelial origin phenotypically change upon heterotopic ossification induction and whether infiltration of innate immunity cells influences their commitment and alters the ectopic bone formation. Liposome-encapsulated clodronate was used to assess macrophage impact on endothelial cells in the skeletal muscle upon acute damage in the ECs specific lineage-tracing Cdh5CreER:R26REYFP/dtTomato transgenic mice.

However, the rate and the extent of resorption in cranial grafts have not been clearly defined. Aim of our study is to evaluate the bone flap resorption (BFR) after cryopreservation.

Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 33 consecutive children (2-18 years) with an AVM, treated with stereotactic radiosurgery Gamma Knife (SRS-GK) from 2001 to 2014 in our institution. We assess angiographic (DSA) Obliteration Rate (OR) as well FPS and PCI to draw conclusions.
Purpose: This study aimed to assess the prevalence and clinical manifestations of ocular graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT).
Methods: 269 patients who received allo-HSCT for hematologic malignancies were evaluated between December 2013 and April 2017 in this prospective observational study. Subjects underwent ophthalmologic examination at 6, 12 and 24 months after allo-HSCT.
Purpose: The goal of this work is to evaluate organ doses and lifetime attributable risk of cancer incidence and mortality in scoliosis examinations of adolescent patients performed with EOS imaging system, in order to optimize patient dose and protocols.
Methods: An anthropomorphic phantom of a normal patient, with thermoluminescent dosimeters in correspondence with the main organs at risk, was imaged with both EOS and computed radiography (CR). For each modality, effective dose was calculated from the measured organ doses.
Aims: The aim of the present work is to assess the main predictors of the most clinically relevant radio-induced effects after Gamma Knife stereotactic radiosurgery (GKRS) for uveal melanoma (UM).
Materials And Methods: Medical records and three-dimensional dosimetry data of critical structures of 66 patients were retrospectively reviewed. Cox's proportional hazard model was used to identify clinical and dosimetric variables as independent risk factor for GKRS-related complications.

OBJECTIVE There are few reported series regarding volume-staged Gamma Knife radiosurgery (GKRS) for the treatment of large, complex, cerebral arteriovenous malformations (AVMs). The object of this study was to report the results of using volume-staged Gamma Knife radiosurgery for patients affected by large and complex AVMs. METHODS Data from 20 patients with large AVMs were prospectively included in the authors' AVM database between 2004 and 2012.

A system composed of a CCD coupled with lens mounted on a black light-tight box and a high resolution intensifying screen for the radiations conversion were used. In order to investigate the detection of different type of radiations in vitro and in vivo experiments were performed.

We used a commercially available ELISA method for the determination of vitamin D in bovine milk. Individual milk samples from two different Italian Friesian herds were analysed.

The olive oil freshness decreased during storage mainly because of oxidation processes. In this research, 91 virgin olive oils were packaged in glass bottles and stored either in the light or in the dark at room temperature for different periods.

Cattle manure and the usual mineral fertilizer were used for comparison purposes. The effects of the organic and mineral fertilizer treatments were studied by analyzing the compost and manure, cultured soils, and harvested material.
