TNF inhibitors have a protective role in the risk of dementia in patients with ankylosing spondylitis: Results from a nationwide study.

Objectives: Ankylosing spondylitis (AS) is a chronic progressive and debilitating form of arthritis with associated extra-articular features including uveitis, intestinal and lung apical inflammation and psoriasis. Putative associations between AS and neurologic disorders has been relatively overlooked. The purpose of this study is to assess the link between AS and major neurologic disorders and whether treatment with Tumor-Necrosis-Factor inhibitors (TNFi) has an impact on that association.

The grammar of paradox: Deciphering Winnicott's language theory.

This paper illuminates how the psychoanalytic work of Winnicott and Wittgenstein's philosophy on language complement each other in elucidating a "psychoanalytic language game". The paper takes a close look at the grammar and linguistic mechanisms which underlie psychoanalytic work. Wittgenstein's linguistic turn from positivism is discussed; his ideas like 'family resemblance', 'aspect seeing' and 'language games' are examined in order to shed light on the paradoxical communication at play in Winnicott's potential space.

The class of Cullin-RING E3 ligases (CRLs) selectively ubiquitinate a large portion of proteins targeted for proteolysis by the 26S proteasome. Before degradation, ubiquitin molecules are removed from their conjugated proteins by deubiquitinating enzymes, a handful of which are associated with the proteasome. The CRL activity is triggered by modification of the Cullin subunit with the ubiquitin-like protein, NEDD8 (also known as Rub1 in ).

The H5PV2Mo10O40 polyoxometalate catalysed the electron transfer oxidation of sulphite to yield a sulphite radical, SO3˙(-) that upon addition of O2 yielded a peroxosulphate species efficient for the H5PV2Mo10O40 catalysed epoxidation of alkenes. The acidic polyoxometalate further catalysed hydrolysis of the epoxide to give vicinal diols in high yields.

The relationship between sensory processing, childhood rituals and obsessive-compulsive symptoms.

Background And Objectives: Studies of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and research in occupational therapy suggest a link between sensory hypersensitivity and excessive use of rituals. The present research constitutes an initial attempt to examine this potential link.

Methods: In Study 1, parents of 4-6-year old children (N = 61) completed the Childhood Routine Inventory, the Sensory Profile and the Screen for Child Anxiety Related Emotional Disorders.

[Computed tomography in the diagnosis of popliteal artery entrapment syndrome].

Popliteal artery entrapment syndrome (PAES), a rare cause of lower limb ischemia, is due to an anomalous relationship between the popliteal artery and the gastrocnemius muscle in the popliteal fossa. Hypertrophy of the muscle, or its anomalous insertion, can displace or compress the artery, leading to stenosis or obstruction. It is clinically manifested by intermittent claudication and most often occurs in young, healthy men.

Subclavian artery aneurysm caused by cervical rib: case report and review.

An aneurysm in the subclavian artery is relatively uncommon and a cervical rib as the cause is rare. Such a case is presented and the pertinent literature is reviewed. The mechanism of aneurysm formation in a normal vessel wall is discussed.
