Motivations of family advisors in engaging in research to improve a palliative approach to care for persons living with dementia: an interpretive descriptive study.

Background: A Strategic Guiding Council (SGC) was created within a Family Carer Decisions Support study, to engage family carers of persons with advanced dementia as advisors to inform the design and implementation of the study. The SGC consists of an international group of family advisors from Canada, the Republic of Ireland, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and the Czech Republic. There are limited studies that have explored the integration of Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) in dementia research, end-of-life care and long-term care.

COSUTI: A Core Outcome Set (COS) for Interventions for the Treatment of Uncomplicated Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) in Adults.

Uncomplicated urinary tract infections (UTIs) are among the most common presentations of bacterial infections in the outpatient setting. The variation of outcomes reported in trials to assess the most effective treatment interventions for uncomplicated UTIs has meant that comparing and synthesising the outcomes across trials is challenging and limits the reliability of evidence which would otherwise inform healthcare decisions. Develop a Core Outcome Set (COS) for interventions for the treatment of uncomplicated UTIs in otherwise healthy adults.

Developing a complex intervention targeting antipsychotic prescribing to nursing home residents with dementia.

: Antipsychotics are commonly prescribed to people living with dementia in nursing home settings, despite strong guideline recommendations against their use except in limited circumstances. We aimed to transparently describe the development process for a complex intervention targeting appropriate requesting and prescribing of antipsychotics to nursing home residents with dementia in Ireland, by nurses and general practitioners (GPs) respectively. : We report the development process for the 'Rationalising Antipsychotic Prescribing in Dementia' (RAPID) complex intervention, in accordance with the 'Guidance for reporting intervention development studies in health research' (GUIDED) checklist.
