The primary aim of the study is to determine the rate of traction-related complications in hip arthroscopy (HA) including perineal compression and distraction injuries, and the secondary objective is to report the incidence of complications in HA found on the studies selected by a systematic review. Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines were used for data extraction from the PubMed and Cochrane databases obtained in February 2022. Reviewers extracted the title, author, date of publication, number of hips treated and number of complications describing the affected area, nerve and soft tissue injury related to traction.

Osteoid osteoma located on the hip joint presents with atypical symptoms that can be misdiagnosed or missed. Multiple image studies can be made for diagnosis but OO should be suspected to properly choose the right one. Percutaneous resection with CT guidance is a reproducible and accurate technique with the appropriate tools and a specialist team to obtain optimal results.

Full-thickness acetabular articular cartilage defects (FAACD) are found on most hips with femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) with a wave sign in the acetabulum. When not repaired it can produce pain and catching sensation. Multiple arthroscopic techniques for repairing this chondral lesion exist, but only few show the quality of the repair on a second look.

With the recent increase in the use of hip arthroscopy, revision hip arthroscopy also has become more prevalent; nevertheless, it is often complex, and many factors should be considered to achieve a satisfactory clinical outcome. Labral reconstruction or augmentation technique is used in cases of severely deficient acetabular labral tissue to restore the fluid seal mechanism. In cases of previous over-resection of cam impingement, the remplissage technique, used to restore the bony defect of the femoral head-neck junction and preserve the joint seal, is an established technique that has been recently reported in the hip with the use of iliotibial band with the same aim as in the shoulder, filling in of the defect due to healing of the soft tissue to the underlying bony impression.
