Unlabelled: The surgical management of patellar fractures typically yielded satisfactory results; however, in situations involving multifragmented patellar fractures or those affecting the inferior pole, it became imperative to employ alternative osteosynthesis techniques that enhanced stability, enabled early rehabilitation initiation, prevented implant failure, and avoided reduction loss before fracture consolidation. In this context, an unconventional osteosynthesis alternative was presented, utilizing an anatomically designed hook plate originally intended for the fifth metatarsal. This technique was successfully applied in three patients with multifragmentary patellar fractures, allowing stable fixation of small or marginal fragments through the plate's hooks without compromising vascularity.

Nevertheless, the role of admission hyperglycemia in patients with COVID-19 has not been well-explored, yet. With this retrospective analysis, we report for the first time that hyperglycemia on day-1 is the best predictor of radiographic imaging of SARS-CoV2, regardless of the past medical history of diabetes.

Identifying mild cognitive decline in younger individuals with diabetes could aid in preventing the progression of the disease. The aim of our study is to compare whether patients with diabetes experience greater cognitive decline than those without diabetes.

Unlabelled: This is an executive summary made by a group of experts named Latin American Academy for the study of Lipids (ALALIP). In the current clinical guidelines, atherogenic dyslipidemia (AD) is a poorly recognized entity. Due to the frequent lipid alterations associated with AD in Latin America (LA), we organized a group of experts named (ALALIP) to generate a document in order to analyze their prevalence and to offer practical recommendations.

Through this mechanism, it might increase arterial rigidity, leading to further complications and heart strain. The use of a device that measures arterial rigidity can help determine if metabolic syndrome is related to a higher vascular stiffness and changes in estimated arterial age.

Recent studies have reported non-fatal forms of Balo concentric sclerosis, focusing on the importance of early diagnosis using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), along with spectroscopy and diffusion/perfusion sequences. Recently, we have been able to draw a three-dimensional image of a specific bundle of fibers by means of a diffusion tensor technique of the magnetic resonance imaging tractography (t-MRI).

Materials And Methods: population-based cross-sectional study in Guayaquil. We recruited people of both genders, with ages ranging from 55 to 65 years.
Background: Up to this date, there are no reports made about the use of media for recruiting research volunteers in Latin American populations. Given the emergence of clinical research in Ecuador, a study of this kind in the local population will be beneficial for future research, and is probably applicable to other countries in the region.
Methods: Two public calls were made for a cross-sectional study on cognitive function and diabetes.
