Purulent bacterial pericarditis is rare and associated with significant short- and long-term morbidity. We report a case of purulent bacterial pericarditis caused by Group A in an immunocompetent young child presenting with a pericardial mass. She was successfully treated with a combined medical and early surgical approach.

Purpose: The process and challenges associated with an initiative to pivot from insourcing the batch compounding of high-volume sterile preparations to insourcing patient-specific compounding of parenteral nutrition (PN) at a health-system central fill pharmacy (CFP) serving 8 hospitals in central Florida are described.
Summary: The insourcing initiative was prompted by a need for greater oversight of sterile compounding to ensure patient safety and the potential for cost savings. In 2014 the health system opened a CFP to provide replenishment of automated dispensing machines and insourcing of 19 compounded sterile preparations (CSPs) as the hub of a hub-and-spoke distribution system for 8 local hospitals.
Purpose: Previous studies have elucidated the unique macroscopic and histological properties of buccal mucosa that make it a viable and durable graft for urethral augmentation. However, no prior literature has directly investigated the impact of preoperative oral health on these features.
Materials And Methods: We analyzed all consenting patients who underwent buccal mucosal graft (BMG) urethroplasty at our institution from 2018 to 2020.
Objectives: To determine concordance/discordance between morphology and molecular testing (MT) among synchronous pulmonary carcinomas using targeted next generation sequencing (NGS), with and without comprehensive molecular review (CMR), vs analyses of multiple singe genes (non-NGS).
Methods: Results of morphologic and MT assessment were classified as concordant, discordant, or indeterminate. For discordant cases, comprehensive histologic assessment (CHA) was performed.

The current study assessed the feasibility of quantifying PD-L1 expression using cytologic non-small cell lung carcinoma specimens and compared the results with those from small biopsy and surgical resection specimens.
Methods: PD-L1 expression was quantified using the IHC-based 22C3 pharmDx assay, with "positivity" defined as staining in ≥50% viable tumor cells; ≥ 100 tumor cells were required for test adequacy.
Background: Next-generation sequencing (NGS) with a multi-gene panel is now available for patients with lung adenocarcinoma, but the performance characteristics and clinical utility of this testing are not well-described. We present the results of an extended 467 gene panel in a series of advanced, highly selected nonsmall cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients using a range of specimens, including predominantly small biopsy and cytology specimens.
Materials And Methods: A retrospective review of 22 NSCLC biopsies sent for NGS using an extended gene panel from January 2014 to July 2015.
Here, comprehensive analysis was performed on the molecular and clinical features of colorectal carcinoma harboring chromosome 20q amplification. Tumor and normal DNA from patients with advanced colorectal carcinoma underwent next-generation sequencing via MSK-IMPACT, and a subset of case samples was subjected to high-resolution microarray (Oncoscan). Relationships between genomic copy number and transcript expression were assessed with The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) colorectal carcinoma data.

Elephantiasis nostras verrucosa (ENV) is a rare cutaneous sequela of chronic lymphedema. Treatment of ENV remains poorly elucidated but has historically involved conservative management aimed at relieving the underlying lymphedema, with a few cases managed by surgical intervention. We report a case of a 27-year-old male with primary lymphedema complicated by large painful ENV lesions on his left foot that we excised surgically with good functional and cosmetic results as validated by the patient.

Methods: Patients were randomly assigned to two interventions: a whole formula diet based on lyophilised foods (Treatment Group, n=24) or nutritional advice (Control Group, n=29). Energy intake, body weight, biochemistry, Mini Nutritional Assessment (MNA) and Pfeiffer's tests were determined at baseline and at 3 months of treatment.
