Purpose: To demonstrate the regenerative effects of Plasma membrane rich in growth factors (PRGFm) as an adjuvant in the surgical treatment of Full-thickness macular holes (FTMH) associated with MacTel type 2 (MacTel).

Background And Objective: Neovascularization is a sight-threatening, uncommon complication of posterior uveitis that often goes undetected until persistent clinical findings appear, or in light of treatment failure. This could be attributed to the relative similarity of activity signs in inflammatory neovascular membranes (NVM) and active posterior uveitis. The purpose of the present study is to recognize imaging features that distinguish uveitic neovascularization from active uveitis using swept-source optical coherence tomography angiography (SS-OCTA).

Bilateral Anterior and Intermediate Uveitis with Occlusive Vasculitis as Sole Manifestation of Relapse in Multiple Sclerosis.

76-year-old female patient, with past medical history of relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis manifested by retrobulbar optic neuritis in both eyes with an interval of one year between the first episode in the left eye and the one in the right eye and after three decades of remission, who consulted due to bilateral blurred and foggy vision. Subsequently, several differential diagnoses where ruled out. Diagnosis of bilateral anterior and intermediate uveitis with occlusive vasculitis attributed to a new relapse episode of multiple sclerosis was made, as the association between multiple sclerosis and intermediate uveitis is known, though the causal association is still questioned.

Scleral fixation of a dexamethasone intravitreal implant in a case of subluxated bag-intraocular lens complex.

Macular edema is a condition of retinal tissue treated with anti-inflammatory agents including placement of an intravitreal sustained-release dexamethasone device, designed to deliver a controlled amount of the medication for a prolonged time, representing an excellent therapy. Nonetheless, the implantation cannot be carried out without an anatomical barrier, such as the presence of posterior capsular support, lens, or intraocular lens. The absence of these barriers could lead to several complications, due to migration of the device from the vitreous cavity to the anterior chamber, causing corneal endothelial damage, corneal edema, glaucoma, and uveitis, among others.

Blockade of Tumor Necrosis Factor-Alpha: A Role for Adalimumab in Neovascular Age-Related Macular Degeneration Refractory to Anti-Angiogenesis Therapy?

Aims: To report a case of wet age-related macular degeneration (wet-AMD) refractory to intravitreal anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (anti-VEGF) therapy in a patient who showed visual and anatomical improvement and stabilization after starting a subcutaneous treatment course with adalimumab, an anti-tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) drug, for concomitant Crohn's disease.

Objective. Serous retinal detachment (SRD) is a common anatomical complication associated with dome-shaped macula (DSM) and staphyloma margin in myopic patients. Here we described the anatomical and functional outcomes obtained with the use of oral spironolactone, a mineralocorticoid antagonist, in the management of myopic patients with SRD associated with DSM and staphyloma margin.

Immune recovery uveitis in a patient with previously undiagnosed cytomegalovirus retinitis.

A 44-year-old man with anterior megalophthalmos arrived at the clinic presenting a cataract in the right eye. The corneal diameter was 13 mm. Iridodonesis and phacodonesis were evident during slit lamp examination.

Study of heavy metal concentration and partitioning in the Estrela River: implications for the pollution in Guanabara Bay – SE Brazil.

In this study, the geochemical analysis of ten sediment samples collected along the fluvial system of the Estrela River, which flows into the northern portion of Guanabara Bay, shows the presence of anthropogenic impacts in this area. Concentrations of Fe, Mn, Zn, Cu, Pb, Cr and Ni obtained were slightly higher, when compared with values found in natural environments. The particle size and organic matter content in most of the analyzed stations showed features not conducive to the accumulation of pollutants due to the low organic matter content and the strong presence of sand fraction.
