We report the case of a patient addressed for abnormal uterine bleeding in the context of secondary infertility. Operative hysteroscopy under sedation showed multiple uterine adhesions (Asherman syndrome) and communication with the pelvic cavity suspecting uterine perforation. Combined laparoscopy showed that the right fallopian tube was incarcerated into the uterine wall.

Signaling and detoxification of Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) are important patho-physiologcal processes. Despite this, we lack comprehensive information on individual cells and cellular structures and functions affected by ROS, which is essential to build quantitative models of the effects of ROS. The thiol groups from cysteines (Cys) in proteins play a major role in redox defense, signaling, and protein function.

Structure-function analysis is a powerful strategy to characterize the contribution of specific residues to the biogenesis and function of a protein. This approach requires the characterization of strains that express mutant alleles in the absence of the wild-type protein. When studying nonessential bacterial genes, collections of mutants can be easily constructed by introducing plasmid-encoded alleles of interest into a strain that already lacks the wild-type gene.

Objectives: Neoadjuvant chemoradiation has been shown to improve survival in locally advanced esophageal and gastroesophageal junction cancer. The purpose of our study was to examine the effects of posttreatment persistent lymph node (LN) disease on overall survival (OS) and recurrence in patients with esophageal adenocarcinoma after neoadjuvant chemoradiation as well as the effect of LN harvest and the potential benefit of adjuvant chemotherapy.

Methods: The records of patients who underwent esophagectomy in our hospital from January 2005 until December 2016 were analyzed.

This study was conducted to determine the best combination between two collection method and two extenders in the cryopreservation of semen from creole bulls adapted to highlands of the Ecuadorian Andes. Sixty ejaculates from three adult Creole bulls were evaluated after collection by artificial vagina (AV) and electroejaculation (EE). Semen samples were split into two aliquots and diluted with a soy lecithin extender (Andromed®; A) or an egg yolk-containing extender (Triladyl®; T) and packed in straws of 0.

Background: The benefits of minimally invasive versus open thymectomy for the management of thymoma are debatable. Further, patient factors contributing to the selection of operative technique are not well elucidated. We aim to identify the association between baseline patient characteristics with choice of surgical approach.

Transcription factories are nuclear domains where gene transcription takes place although the molecular basis for their formation and maintenance are unknown. In this study, we explored how the properties of chromatin as a polymer may contribute to the structure of transcription factories. We found that transcriptional active chromatin contains modifications like histone H4 acetylated at Lysine 16 (H4K16ac).
