Article Synopsis
  • A study aimed to determine if factors linked to Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) affect how often individuals experience dental cavities.
  • It involved parents of ASD individuals over 4 years old answering questions about their child's behavior and support needs, and the researchers assessed dental health and behavior during dental visits.
  • Results showed that higher dental-caries prevalence (42.9%) was connected to less frequent tooth brushing, higher support needs, and poor mealtime and dental care behavior, emphasizing the need for better oral care strategies for this group.
