Monkeypox (mpox), caused by the MPOXV (monkeypox virus), has been endemic in Africa since its first identification in 1958. However, in May 2022, the world witnessed the first global outbreak associated with the West African clade. Even though thousands of cases have been recorded, our understanding of vertical transmission during pregnancy remains restricted due to an absence of reported cases in pregnant women and a lack of adequate clinical descriptions.

The present work aimed to investigate the effect of increasing CO concentration on the growth, productivity, grain quality, and biochemical changes in quinoa and amaranth plants. An experiment was conducted in open chambers (OTCs) to evaluate the responses of these species to different levels of CO {[CO] = 400 ± 50 μmol mol CO for ambient CO concentration, [CO] = 700 ± 50 μmol mol CO for the elevated CO concentration}. Growth parameters and photosynthetic pigments reflected changes in gas exchange, saccharolytic enzymes, and carbohydrate metabolism when plants were grown under [CO].

Risks of soil chemical degradation from atmospheric gypsum plumes around selected extraction and processing enterprises, Northeast Brazil.

Gypsum plays a prominent role in agriculture, being considered an effective alternative to alleviate subsurface acidity due to its higher solubility and containing sulfur. However, another significant aspect is which pose long-term risks of groundwater contamination due to excessive applications of salts, pesticides, and other chemicals that will be leached, or even soil chemical depletion. So far, no study has focused on understanding the impacts of the atmospheric gypsum plume originating from gibbsite mining and processing on the leaching of soil bases and chemical degradation surrounding these sites.

With the unprecedented shift to virtual care, it remains uncertain whether residents can achieve PRM competencies using telerehabilitation as a method of instruction.

Objective: To determine the PRM residents' ability to achieve competencies through telerehabilitation, as perceived by different stakeholders (residents, chief residents, training officers, and department heads).

Objective: To investigate the effects of different physical exercise programs and polymorphisms of the FTO (fat mass and obesity-associated gene) on body composition and cardiovascular risk factors in adolescents with overweight and obesity.

Methods: A randomized, parallel, double-blind clinical trial consisting of the adolescent overweight from the state public network, in a simple representative random sample, who participated in an aerobic exercise or weight training intervention for 10 weeks. Introduction And Objectives: Peyronie's disease produces penile curvature that leads, in certain cases, to difficulties in having satisfactory sexual relations. The objective of this study is to evaluate the functional and cost-effectiveness results obtained in the surgical treatment of penile curvature due to Peyronie's disease under local anesthesia, comparing them with those performed under a general-spinal anesthesia regimen.

Material And Methods: Two groups of patients undergoing corporoplasty are compared according to the type of anesthesia used.

A systematic review of articles published between 2008 and 2018 was conducted using the following databases: PubMed/Medline, SciELO, Web of Science, Scopus, Lilacs, and BVS Adolec Brasil. The following descriptors and keywords were used in English and Portuguese: adolescent, sexual maturation, survey, questionnaire, and physical activity.

Efficacy of diacerein in reducing liver steatosis and fibrosis in patients with type 2 diabetes and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease: A randomized, placebo-controlled trial.

The aim was to assess, in a randomized, double-blinded, placebo-controlled trial, the efficacy of diacerein, an anti-inflammatory drug, in improving liver fibrosis and steatosis in patients with type 2 diabetes and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). Sixty-nine diabetic patients with NAFLD were randomized to 24-month treatment with placebo (35 patients) or diacerein 100 mg/day (34 patients).
