This paper deals with the problem of robust regulation of a Planar Vertical Takeoff and Landing (PVTOL) aircraft affected by crosswind disturbances. The proposed approach simultaneously exploits the advantages of passivity-based control and the integral sliding mode (ISM) control technique. We demonstrate that the passivity-based controller accomplishes the PVTOL regulation within a guaranteed stability region.

When biomolecular dynamical systems interconnect retroactivity is a property that becomes important. The biological functional meaning of these effects is increasingly becoming an area of interest.

The proposed application-oriented control approach is based on the conception of a state feedback controller that ensures the tracking of a limit cycle characterized in terms of the feedback-linearized system. Boundedness and convergence of the closed-loop trajectories are established following the Lyapunov theoretical framework and applying LaSalle׳s stability principle.

The system consists of a pendulum actuated by a DC motor and subject to a time-varying bounded disturbance. The control law consists of a Proportional Derivative controller and an uncertain estimator that allows compensating the effects of the unknown bounded perturbation.
