Article Synopsis
  • A study investigated how pain thresholds are affected during migraine attacks using CO(2) laser stimuli on patients without aura.
  • Ten patients were observed during attacks and 72 hours afterwards, measuring scalp potential responses to pain stimuli on their hands and forehead.
  • Results showed that pain thresholds were lower on both sides during attacks, and there was an increase in the N2a-P2 response amplitudes, suggesting central sensitization contributes to heightened pain sensitivity during migraines.
