Objectives: To evaluate the effectiveness of hydrogen peroxide (HP) use as a disinfectant in the hospital water network for the control of spp. colonization.
Methods: Following the detection of high levels of contamination in a 136-bed general hospital water network, an HP treatment of the hot water supply (25 mg/L) was adopted.
Background: To assess whether dipyridamole therapy exerts a significant anti-inflammatory effect in heart failure patients.
Methods: We performed a retrospective analysis of the stored bio-samples of 3 groups of patients: 1) 25 normal healthy controls (N); 2) 25 heart failure patients (HF) under standard optimal therapy, including aspirin; 3) 17 HF patients with previous stroke and under clinically-driven therapy with A (Aggrenox, long-acting dipyridamole 200 mg + aspirin 25 mg, twice daily) for at least 1 month (HF-A). In all, we evaluated interleukin (IL)-6, adiponectin and C-reactive protein (CRP) as well as NT-proBNP.
Aortic coarctation is often linked to bicuspid aortic valve and only rarely to congenital aneurysm of the circle of Willis. It is possible that a common pathogenetic substrate determines this association, but it has not yet been demonstrated. In this report we describe the case of a 32-year-old woman, affected by previous anamnestic functional cardiac murmur.
