The isolates of Rhipicephalus microplus collected from Madhya Pradesh (MP), Punjab (PJB) and Uttar Pradesh (UP) states of India were characterized using laboratory standardized adult immersion test (AIT) against macrocyclic lactone (ivermectin), synthetic pyrethroids (cypermethrin and deltamethrin), organophosphates (coumaphos and diazinon) and phenylpyrazole compounds (fipronil). Out of the six isolates tested, five isolates except MTH were resistant to deltamethrin and cypermethrin at level II with RF ranging from 16.4 to 24.

Following atrial fibrillation (AF) ablation procedures, patients may present with atrial tachycardias (ATs) that show remarkable stability for short periods of time but degenerate in unstable forms right afterwards. In order to map these types of ATs, we applied the sequential mapping capabilities only for time segments where ATs exhibited constant cycle length (CL) and activation sequence, excluding the segments with unstable recordings. We herein describe two cases of ATs after AF ablation which were mapped with this technique that allowed for the successful identification and subsequent ablation of the tachycardia circuit.

Background: Pandemic influenza (H1N1) 2009 emerged in April 2009 and spread widely in India. Although an unprecedented number of cases required intensive care, comparative community-based studies with seasonal influenza strains have not shown any significant differences in clinical symptoms or severity.

There is a known relationship between Alzheimer's disease (AD) and Down syndrome (DS), with the latter typically developing AD-like neuropathology in mid-life. In order to further understand this relationship we examined intersectin-1 (ITSN1) and the regulator of calcineurin-1 (RCAN1), proteins involved in endosomal and lysosomal trafficking that are over-expressed in DS. We examined RCAN1 and ITSN1 levels (both long (-L) and short (-S) isoforms) and the level of endogenous metals in White Blood Cells (WBCs) collected from AD patients who were enrolled in the Australian Imaging, Biomarker and Lifestyle Study on Ageing (AIBL).

Inkjet printing technique allows manufacturing low cost organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs) in ambient conditions. Phytic acid (PA), the major phosphorus reserve in soybean seeds (60-80%), is a potent ion chelator, causing deficiencies that leads to malnutrition. Myotonic dystrophy type 2 (MD2) is a multisystem disease, predominantly affecting the proximal limb muscles, eyes, endocrine organs, heart and intestines. Longterm asymptomatic creatine kinase (hyper-CKemia) of more than 20 years duration, in association with hyperlipidemia and diabetes, as a manifestation of MD2 has not been reported. A 52-year-old female with a history of hyper-CKemia since the age of 32 years associated with diabetes, hyperlipidemia and hyperuricemia, developed anginal chest pain and proximal muscle weakness together with clinical myotonia when opening the fists at age 51 years.

Reduction of various azides using Na2S has been accomplished in water, and, in situ, the resulting amines on reaction with various ketones lead to pyrazolo[3,4-b]pyridines in one pot. Thus, a number of new trifluoromethyl-substituted pyrazolo[3,4-b]pyridine compounds have been prepared and screened for antimicrobial activity against different Gram-positive and Gram-negative strains. A good number of compounds, 4a, 4b, 4d, 4f, 4i, 4k, 4l, 4m, 4r and 4s, were found to possess promising activity.
