Role of targeted biopsy, perilesional biopsy, and random biopsy in prostate cancer diagnosis by mpMRI/transrectal ultrasonography fusion biopsy.

Purpose: It is still not clear the role of perilesional biopsy (PL) and the extension of the random biopsy (RB) scheme to be adopted during mpMRI-guided ultrasound fusion biopsy (FB). To evaluate the increase in diagnostic accuracy achieved by PL and different RB schemes over target biopsy (TB).

Methods: We collected prospectively 168 biopsy-naïve patients with positive mpMRI receiving FB and concurrent 24-core RB.

Impact of Dynamical Collapse Models on Inflationary Cosmology.

Inflation solves several cosmological problems at the classical and quantum level, with a strong agreement between the theoretical predictions of well-motivated inflationary models and observations. In this Letter, we study the corrections induced by dynamical collapse models, which phenomenologically solve the quantum measurement problem, to the power spectrum of the comoving curvature perturbation during inflation and the radiation-dominated era. We find that the corrections are strongly negligible for the reference values of the collapse parameters.

Narrowing the Parameter Space of Collapse Models with Ultracold Layered Force Sensors.

Despite the unquestionable empirical success of quantum theory, witnessed by the recent uprising of quantum technologies, the debate on how to reconcile the theory with the macroscopic classical world is still open. Spontaneous collapse models are one of the few testable solutions so far proposed. In particular, the continuous spontaneous localization (CSL) model has become subject of intense experimental research.

Improved Noninterferometric Test of Collapse Models Using Ultracold Cantilevers.

Spontaneous collapse models predict that a weak force noise acts on any mechanical system, as a consequence of the collapse of the wave function. Significant upper limits on the collapse rate have been recently inferred from precision mechanical experiments, such as ultracold cantilevers and the space mission LISA Pathfinder. Here, we report new results from an experiment based on a high-Q cantilever cooled to millikelvin temperatures, which is potentially able to improve the current bounds on the continuous spontaneous localization (CSL) model by 1 order of magnitude.

Inhalation of Cedrus atlantica essential oil alleviates pain behavior through activation of descending pain modulation pathways in a mouse model of postoperative pain.

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Cedrus atlantica essential oil (CaEO) presents analgesic and anti-inflammatory sedative properties. However, it remains unknown whether CaEO alleviates acute postoperative pain.

Materials And Methods: Here, we investigated the effect of CaEO on postoperative pain and its mechanisms related to the descending pain control in Swiss males mice induced by a plantar incision surgery (PIS) in the hindpaw.
