Point-of-care (POC) systems for the joint measurement of Troponin and D-dimers have not been studied in horses. Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to evaluate how effective Doppler ultrasonography is in assessing blood flow changes in horses suffering from systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) or laminitis.
  • A total of 42 Andalusian horses were divided into three groups: healthy horses, those with SIRS, and those with laminitis, with various assessments done on blood flow and artery characteristics.
  • The findings indicated that Doppler ultrasonography can be a valuable tool in identifying changes in digital blood flow, particularly in horses with noticeable changes in their digital pulse intensity or diagnosed with laminitis.
