This study aims to compare meibomian gland (MG) dropout and MG dysfunction (MGD) between patients with diabetes mellitus (DM) with moderate-severe non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy (NPDR) and patients with no diabetes (NDM). This prospective, transversal, age, and gender-matched case-control study included 98 DM and 106 NDM eyes. Dry eye disease (DED) and MGD evaluations were performed, including meibography (Keratograph 5M).

Article Synopsis
  • The text discusses one-and-a-half syndrome, a condition caused by a small brainstem lesion that leads to specific eye movement dysfunctions, including diplopia and gaze palsy.
  • A 52-year-old man experiencing these symptoms was found to have an ischemic event in the brainstem's pontine tegmentum, confirming the diagnosis of one-and-a-half syndrome.
  • Understanding the complex anatomy of the brainstem allows clinicians to diagnose this condition effectively and identify potential variants that may arise from related pathway damage.

The aim of our study was to determine the prevalence of anatomical variants of bronchial arteries using computed tomographic angiography in a population of northeastern Mexico. An observational, transversal, descriptive, comparative, retrospective study was performed using 139 imaging studies of Mexican patients in which we evaluated the following parameters from the left and right bronchial arteries: artery origin, branching pattern, arterial ostium, vertebral level of origin, diameter, and mediastinal trajectory. The anatomies of the bronchial arteries were similar in both genders, except distribution for vertebral origin level (  0.
