Background: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the second leading cause of cancer-related death in Hispanic patients. Screening colonoscopy has been shown to reduce the incidence and mortality of CRC. However, utilization among Hispanic patients and other minority groups is low.

We have designed an inexpensive and effective replacement for commercial IR sensors that can be attached to enclosures to monitor animal locomotion.
