Purpose: The occurrence of genitourinary (GU) toxicity is a common adverse event observed after external beam radiation therapy (EBRT) for prostate cancer (PCa). Recent findings suggest that the dose delivered to specific urinary organs at risk (OARs) such as the ureters, bladder trigone, and urethra is involved in the development of GU toxicity.
Methods And Materials: A multidisciplinary task force including 3 radiation oncologists, a uroradiologist, and a urologist was created in 2022.
Up to 50% of patients treated with radical surgery for localized prostate cancer may experience biochemical recurrence that requires appropriate management. Definitions of biochemical relapse may vary, but, in all cases, consist of an increase in a PSA without clinical or radiological signs of disease. Molecular imaging through to positron emission tomography has taken a preponderant place in relapse diagnosis, progressively replacing bone scan and CT-scan.

Purpose: Clinical target volume (CTV) delineation for pelvic lymph nodes in prostate cancer is currently based on 3 consensus guidelines with some inherent discrepancies. To improve the reproducibility in nodal delineation, the Francophone Group of Urological Radiotherapy (Groupe Francophone de Radiothérapie Urologique [GFRU]) worked toward proposing an easily applicable, reproducible, and practice-validated contouring guideline for pelvic nodal CTV.
Methods And Materials: The nodal CTV data sets of a high-risk node-negative prostate cancer clinical case contoured by 86 radiation oncologists participating in a GFRU contouring workshop were analyzed.
Background: Metastasis-directed therapy (MDT) significantly delays the initiation of palliative androgen deprivation therapy (pADT) in patients with oligorecurrent prostate cancer (PCa) with a positive impact on patient's quality of life. However, it remains unclear whether the addition of ADT improves polymetastatic free survival (PMFS) and metastatic castration refractory PCa-free survival (mCRPC-FS) and how long concomitant hormone therapy should be given. A significant overall survival (OS) benefit was shown when an androgen receptor targeted agent (ARTA) was added to pADT in patients with metastatic hormone sensitive PCa (HSPC).

Material And Methods: In 2019, the Brachytherapy Study Group proposed to conduct a survey on behalf of the Belgian SocieTy of Radiation Oncology (BeSTRO) in order to identify current BT practice patterns. An electronic questionnaire was sent to all primary radiotherapy centers in Belgium.
Purpose: Early reports suggested that transurethral resection (TURP) prior to permanent seed brachytherapy (BT) results in high incontinence rates. Guidelines consider prior TURP as a contra-indication to treatment, but improvements in imaging and treatment planning may reduce this risk, and are investigated in this prospective study.
Material And Methods: 99 men with histologically proven low- to intermediate-risk, localized prostate cancer, with a history of TURP performed at least 3 months before BT procedure were enrolled.
Background: Although guidelines exist for advanced and variant bladder cancer management, evidence is limited/conflicting in some areas and the optimal approach remains controversial.
Objective: To bring together a large multidisciplinary group of experts to develop consensus statements on controversial topics in bladder cancer management.
Design: A steering committee compiled proposed statements regarding advanced and variant bladder cancer management which were assessed by 113 experts in a Delphi survey.
Background And Purpose: Delineation of clinical target volumes (CTVs) remains a weak link in radiation therapy (RT), and large inter-observer variation is seen. Guidelines for target and organs at risk delineation for prostate cancer in the primary setting are scarce. Material And Methods: A reference transrectal ultrasound image set of the prostate gland from a patient who had undergone TURP was used. Contouring of the prostate, clinical target volume and organs at risk was performed by the coordinating center.
Techniques for permanent low dose rate seed brachytherapy for prostate cancer have evolved in the recent years with increasing use of interactive planning in the operating room (OR) during seed placement. This overcomes one of the main sources of error in the original two-stage technique in which a planning study performed at a time distant from the implant is used to define seed positions and then an attempt to reproduce this at the time of implant is required. This review addresses the various ways in which real-time dosimetry may be used.
