Motivation: Cells adhering to the extracellular matrix can sense and respond to a wide variety of chemical and physical features of the adhesive surface. Traction force microscopy (TFM) allows determining the tensile forces exerted by the cells on their substrate with high resolution.
Results: To allow broad access of this techniques to cell biology laboratories we developed JeasyTFM, an open-source ImageJ package able to process multi-color and multi-position time-lapse pictures thus suitable for the automatic analysis of large TFM data.
Cell invasion is a highly complex process that requires the coordination of cell migration and degradation of the extracellular matrix. In melanoma cells, as in many highly invasive cancer cell types these processes are driven by the regulated formation of adhesives structures such as focal adhesions and invasive structures like invadopodia. Investigating the role of FAK in human melanoma cells, we found that both in situ and metastatic melanoma cells strongly express FAK, where it controls tumor cells' invasiveness by regulating focal adhesion-mediated cell motility. Inhibiting FAK in human metastatic melanoma cells with either siRNA or a small inhibitor targeting the kinase domain impaired migration but led to increased invadopodia formation and extracellular matrix degradation.

Highly-resolved spectra of 3-carbamoyl-2,2,5,5-tetramethylpyrrolidin-1-yloxy, diphenylnitroxide, galvinoxyl, and perylene cation radical with excellent signal-to-noise are shown, demonstrating the capabilities of the rapid-scan technique to characterize very small, well-resolved hyperfine couplings.

To further identify the determinants governing the intracellular trafficking of Gag-gRNA complexes and their accumulation at the PM, we compared, in living and fixed cells, the interactions between gRNA and wild-type Gag or Gag mutants carrying deletions in NC zinc fingers (ZFs) or a nonmyristoylated version of Gag. The initial pharmacodynamic effects, pharmacokinetics, and safety of selepressin, a novel V-selective vasopressin analogue, was examined in a phase IIa trial in septic shock patients.
Methods: This was a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled multicenter trial in 53 patients in early septic shock (aged ≥18 years, fluid resuscitation, requiring vasopressor support) who received selepressin 1.
The conventional hybridoma screening and subcloning process is generally considered to be one of the most critical steps in hapten-specific antibody production. Methods: Student responses in direct speech to patient cues and concerns were analysed in 21 different case scenarios using VR-CoDES-P.
Results: A total of 977 student responses were available for coding, and 857 responses were codable with the VR-CoDES-P.
Musical training has been shown to have positive effects on several aspects of speech processing, however, the effects of musical training on the neural processing of speech prosody conveying distinct emotions are yet to be better understood. We used functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) to investigate whether the neural responses to speech prosody conveying happiness, sadness, and fear differ between musicians and non-musicians. Differences in processing of emotional speech prosody between the two groups were only observed when sadness was expressed.

The objective of the study was to assess the spectrum of diagnoses and the treatment rates in a group of unemployed persons (≥ 50 years) referred by the employment exchange of the job center in Munich to a center for psychosocial coaching.
Methods: Out of 105 participants 44 (42%) showing signs of psychiatric disorders according to the patient health questionnaire (PHQ) screening were included in the evaluation.
