Osteopontin (OPN), a multifunctional glycoprotein, has emerged as a potential biomarker for vascular disease in CKD due to its role in inflammation, tissue remodeling, and calcification.
Methods: This cohort study included 1124 hemodialysis patients from the PROGREDIRE study, a registry involving 35 dialysis units in Southern Italy.
Background: Chronic total occlusion (CTO) of the portal vein is one of the main causes of portal hypertension, which may result in life-threatening complications often managed by interventional radiology (IR). The aim of this study is to report the innovative experience with percutaneous revascularization therapy in the management of portal vein CTO in paediatric and adult patients.
Materials And Methods: From January 2020 to December 2023 consecutive paediatric and adult patients with severe portal hypertension resulting from portal vein CTO who underwent attempts at percutaneous recanalization were retrospectively reviewed.
Primary antiphospholipid syndrome (PAPS) is a life-threatening clotting disorder mediated by pathogenic autoantibodies. Here we dissect the origin of self-reactive B cells in human PAPS using peripheral blood and bone marrow of patients with triple-positive PAPS via combined single-cell RNA sequencing, B cell receptors (BCR) repertoire profiling, CITEseq analysis and single cell immortalization. We find that antiphospholipid (aPL)-specific B cells are present in the naive compartment, polyreactive, and derived from the natural repertoire.

We investigated genetic variation in human Carbohydrate-Active enZYmes (hCAZymes) genes in relationship to the response to a FODMAP-lowering diet in the DOMINO study.
Methods: hCAZy polymorphism was studied in patients with IBS from the dietary (FODMAP-lowering; n = 196) and medication (otilonium bromide; n = 54) arms of the DOMINO trial via targeted sequencing of 6 genes of interest (AMY2B, LCT, MGAM, MGAM2, SI, and TREH).
