Background: Gestures or manual signing are valid options for augmentative and alternative communication. However, the data in the literature are limited to a few neurodevelopmental disorders, and less is known about its application in the community setting.

Objectives: This case report explores the feasibility and preliminary efficacy of tact training with augmentative gestural support intervention for a child affected by a language disorder with challenging behaviors in a community setting.

The Influence of Music Reading on Spatial Working Memory and Self-Assessment Accuracy.

Background/objectives: Previous research has suggested that Western musicians, who generally demonstrate proficiency in reading musical scores, exhibit superior performance in visuospatial working memory tasks compared to non-musicians. Evidence indicates brain activation in regions such as the left inferior parietal lobe and the right posterior fusiform gyrus during music reading, which are associated with visuospatial processing. This study aimed to explore how musical training influences spatial working memory and to examine the relationship between self-assessment accuracy and cognitive performance.

Case report: Multicomponent intervention for severe food selectivity in autism spectrum disorder: a single case study.

Food selectivity is common in children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The treatment used can be invasive and difficult to implement, necessitating the exploration of multicomponent approaches. This study presents the case of a 9-year-old autistic girl with severe food selectivity, who ate exclusively liquid and semi-solid foods.

Parental involvement in robot-mediated intervention: a systematic review.

Introduction: Over the years, the conceptual approach to pediatric rehabilitation has reevaluated the parent's role in the therapeutic process, considering parental involvement as a necessary condition for the effectiveness of the intervention. In the field of pediatric intervention, the therapeutic use of robots represents a growing clinical interest, but the feasibility and applicability of these robotic interventions, including those involving parents, remain unclear. This systematic review aims to investigate parental involvement in robot-mediated interventions (RMI) for children and adolescents in the current literature.

Pre- and Post-COVID-19 Antimicrobial Resistance Pattern of Pathogens in an Intensive Care Unit.

We aimed to determine the trend of the antimicrobial resistance pattern of pathogens isolated in samples collected from patients hospitalized in the intensive care unit (ICU) in selected periods before and after COVID-19. A retrospective study of bacterial pathogens was performed on 1267 patients. Positive bacterial culture data from 1695 samples from the pre-COVID-19 period and 1562 samples from the post-COVID-19 period were obtained.

Anxiety and Perception of Disease Control in Multiple Sclerosis Subjects Treated with Natalizumab.

Multiple sclerosis subjects treated with natalizumab face anxiety about developing progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (PML), besides the psychological distress caused by the disease. The aim of this study is to investigate whether increasing the frequency of neurological and nuclear magnetic resonance screening may affect anxiety and the perception of disease control in patients treated with natalizumab. A total of 62 relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis patients were recruited from 2019 to 2020.

The effect of practice and musical structure on pianists' eye-hand span and visual monitoring.

This study examines short-term improvement of music performances and oculomotor behaviour during four successive executions of a brief musical piece composed by Bartók, "Slovak Boys' Dance". miR-499a rs3746444 A>G Polymorphism Is Correlated with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus and Diabetic Polyneuropathy in a Romanian Cohort: A Preliminary Study.

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a common metabolic disorder that results from complex interactions of both environmental and genetic factors. Many single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), including noncoding RNA genes, have been investigated for their association with susceptibility to T2DM and its complications, with little evidence available regarding Caucasians. The aim of the present study was to establish whether four miRNA SNPs (miR-27a rs895819 T>C, miR-146a rs2910164 G>C, miR-196a2 rs11614913 C>T, and miR-499a rs3746444 A>G) are correlated with susceptibility to T2DM and/or diabetic polyneuropathy (DPN) in a Romanian population.

The diagnosis of avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID) was added to the diagnostic and statistical manual of mental disorders (DSM-5) just 10 years ago. Information and communication technologies (ICTs) have become more widely used in the past years to help people with autism spectrum conditions (ASC). Serious games embedded into computers or tablets, as well as social robots, are the most employed ICT-related tools that are appealing to and appropriate for autistic children. It is well known that first-trimester miscarriages are associated with chromosome abnormalities, with numerical chromosome abnormalities being the ones most commonly detected. Conventional karyotyping is still considered the gold standard in the analysis of products of conception, despite the extended use of molecular genetic techniques. However, conventional karyotyping is a laborious and time-consuming method, with a limited resolution of 5-10 Mb and hampered by maternal cell contamination and culture failure.

The mycotoxins such as alternariol (AOH), alternariol monomethyl ether (AME), and tentoxin (TEN) are mycotoxins, which can contaminate cereal-based raw materials. Today, wheat is one of the most important crops in temperate zones, and it is in increasing demand in the Western Balkans countries that are urbanizing and industrializing. This research aimed to investigate the occurrence and determine the concentration of mycotoxins AOH, AME, and TEN in wheat samples from the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Albania, harvested in the year 2020 in the period between 15 June and 15 July.

Use of Virtual Reality in Children with Dyslexia.

In recent years, the study of dyslexia has seen rapid progress in definition and classification, neuropsychological correlates, neurobiological factors, and intervention. However, there are few studies on how virtual reality can affect improving cognitive domains and cross-cutting pedagogical skills. We, therefore, tested intervention through the use of a virtual reality rehabilitation system (VRRS) in children with dyslexia.
