The unique properties of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) have driven their pervasive use in different industrial applications, leading to substantial environmental pollution and raising critical concerns about the long-term impacts on ecosystem and human health. To tackle the global challenge of PFAS contamination, there is an urgent need for sustainable and efficient remediation strategies. Phytoremediation has emerged as a promising eco-friendly approach with the potential to mitigate the spread of these persistent contaminants.

Oxidative stress and inflammation are responsible for endothelial damage displaying many sex differences. Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) is a pathogenic stimulus that can trigger inflammation, contributing to endothelial dysfunction. Given the scientific evidence on the effectiveness of herbal extracts in managing endothelial dysfunction, we considered the (R)-(-)-Linalool (LIN), an aromatic monoterpene alcohol, as a bioactive phytochemical compound that could prevent and improve endothelial injury.

This study aims to investigate whether nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN) improves the stability of the endometrium in a rat model of PCOS and identifies whether it is related to reduce IR and increase glycolysis levels and its potential signaling pathway.
Methods And Results: Female Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats are fed letrozole and a high-fat diet (HFD) to form the PCOS model, then the model rats are treated with or without NMN.
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a long-term autoimmune condition marked by persistent inflammation of the joints and various systemic complications, including endothelial dysfunction, atherosclerosis, and pulmonary fibrosis. Oxidative stress is a key contributor to the pathogenesis of RA, potentially exacerbating vascular damage and promoting pro-angiogenic and profibrotic processes. This study aims to investigate the effects of sera from RA patients on human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs), focusing on the induction of oxidative stress, endothelial cell proliferation, migration, and collagen type I synthesis.

Objective: To summarize and compare available data on this topic providing a useful clinical tool in the treatment decision process.
Search Strategy: We performed a systematic research of PubMed (MEDLINE), Web of Science, and Gooogle Scholar.
The timing and efficiency of arsenic (As) accumulation is crucial for using the hyperaccumulator P. vittata in remediation of As-contaminated soils. In this study, through an innovative microXRF-based approach, using a new "pinna powder" sampling method, we monitored As accumulation over time in fronds of individual P.

Here, we present a post hoc long-term analysis of the 82 patients enrolled in the original study. The median observation time was 175 months (IQR 159-197).

We aimed to address the impact of inflammation factors on the pathogenesis, progression and consequences of EC.
Methods: For the genetic correlation analyses, a two-sample of Mendelian randomization (MR) study was applied to investigate inflammation-related single-nucleotide polymorphisms involved with endometrial cancer from GWAS databases.
Adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs) are promising in regenerative medicine. Their proliferation, survival and activation are influenced by specific signals within their microenvironment, also known as niche. The stem cell niche is regulated by complex interactions between multiple cell types.

Usually, the repair of 1st and 2nd-grade lacerations is performed after the administration of local anesthesia. Despite the great relevance of the problem, there are only a few studies about the best choice of local anesthetic to use during suturing.

Purpose Of The Article: The main aim of the study was to analyze the population of women who used etonogestrel implant, the reason that led them to this type of contraception, and the degree of compliance with it. Materials and methods: We carried out a retrospective study on women who had etonogestrel subcutaneous implant placed (n°47) over a 6-year period (2015-2021). We submitted the women a series of questions by telephone questionnaire (range 10-72 months after placements, mean 40 months) that investigated the comorbidities and side effects related to etonogestrel implant.

Deep learning (DL), as an artificial intelligence method, might help to overcome this limitation. Unfortunately, only preliminary findings are available, with the absence of studies evaluating the performance of DL models in identifying intrauterine lesions and the possible aid related to the inclusion of clinical factors in the model.

Women with PCOS have an increased risk of developing major cardiovascular risk factors during the fertile period: obesity, impaired glucose tolerance, diabetes mellitus, dyslipidemia, and metabolic syndrome. The possible effect of PCOS on cardiovascular disease (CVD) has been reported in different studies, but the results are not clear for several reasons.

The causal relationship to this question is worth an in-depth comprehensive of known single nucleotide polymorphisms associated with gut microbiota.
Methods: We conducted bidirectional Mendelian randomization (MR) utilizing instrumental variables associated with gut microbiota (N = 18,340) from MiBioGen GWAS to assess their impact on PCOS risk in the FinnGen GWAS (27,943 PCOS cases and 162,936 controls).

In this study, different multivariate classification methods were applied to hyperspectral images acquired, in the short-wave infrared range (SWIR: 1000-2500 nm), to define and evaluate quality control actions applied to construction and demolition waste (C&DW) flow streams, with particular reference to the detection of hazardous material as asbestos. Three asbestos fibers classes (i.e.

We aim to evaluate the potential effect of vaccination after hysterectomy for high-grade cervical intraepithelial neoplasia and early-stage cervical cancer.
Methods: This is a multi-center retrospective study evaluating data of women who develop lower genital tract dysplasia (including anal, vulvar and vaginal intra-epithelial neoplasia) after having hysterectomy for CIN2+ and FIGO stage IA1- IB1 cervical cancer.
Amniotic fluid is essential for fetus wellbeing and is used to monitor pregnancy and predict fetal outcomes. Sex affects health and medicine from the beginning of life, but knowledge of its influence on cell-depleted amniotic fluid (AF) and amniotic fluid cells (AFCs) is still neglected. We evaluated sex-related differences in AF and in AFCs to extend personalized medicine to prenatal life.

In basal HUVECs, the Parkin gene and protein were higher in FHUVECs than in MHUVECs, while the Beclin-1 protein was more expressed in MHUVECs, and no other significant differences were detected. Ang II significantly increases LAMP-1 and p62 protein expression and decreases the expression of Parkin protein in comparison to basal in MHUVECs.

Hyperspectral imaging represents a powerful tool for the study of artwork's materials since it permits to obtain simultaneously information about the spectral behavior of the materials and their spatial distribution. By combining hyperspectral images performed on several spectral intervals (visible, near infrared and mid-infrared ranges) through chemometric methods it is possible to clearly identify most of the materials used in painting (i.e.

In a circular economy perspective, the development of fast and efficient sensor-based recognition strategies of plastic waste, not only by polymer but also by color, plays a crucial role for the production of high quality secondary raw materials in recycling plants. In this work, mixed colored flakes of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) from packaging waste were simultaneously classified by hyperspectral imaging working in the visible range (400-750 nm), combined with machine learning. Two classification models were built and compared: (1) Partial Least Square-Discriminant Analysis (PLS-DA) for 6 HDPE macro-color classes identification (i.
