The discovery of correlated states and superconductivity in magic-angle twisted bilayer graphene (MATBG) established a new platform to explore interaction-driven and topological phenomena. However, despite multitudes of correlated phases observed in moiré systems, robust superconductivity appears the least common, found only in MATBG and more recently in magic-angle twisted trilayer graphene. Here we report the experimental realization of superconducting magic-angle twisted four-layer and five-layer graphene, hence establishing alternating twist magic-angle multilayer graphene as a robust family of moiré superconductors.

The rapidly increasing worldwide population of older adults, along with the increasing prevalence of cognitive impairment and dementia in this population, is a growing health-care problem. As such, advances in technology-based cognitive interventions and games are playing an increasingly key role in preserving and improving older adults' cognitive function, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic when opportunities for face-to-face activities or training are few. In this paper, we summarize from previous studies systematic reviews and meta-analyses on the various types of technology used in cognitive interventions (namely, computerized cognitive training, virtual-reality interventions and robot-assisted interventions) and the empirical evidence on the effects of these technologies on global and specific cognitive functions in healthy and clinical populations of older adults (e.

It is widely known that an optimal nucleotide sequence context immediately upstream of the AUG start codon greatly improves the efficiency of translation initiation of mRNA in mammalian and plant somatic cells, which in turn increases protein levels. However, it is still unclear whether a similar regulatory mechanism is also present in highly differentiated cells. Here, we surveyed this issue in Arabidopsis thaliana sperm cells and found that the sequence context-mediated regulation of translation initiation in sperm cells is generally similar to that in somatic cells.

Article Synopsis
  • Long-distance quantum state transfer (QST) relies on quantum teleportation and involves distant parties, Alice and Bob, communicating through a shared entangled state created by a source, Charlie.
  • Atmospheric turbulence complicates the process of accurately measuring the entangled states as they travel, which traditionally requires local Bell-state measurements by Alice and Charlie.
  • The study showcases a successful long-distance QST over 1200 km using a stable interferometer and satellite technology, achieving an average fidelity of 0.82±0.01 for six distinct quantum states, surpassing the classical limit for qubit transfer.

Pathological cartilage calcification plays an important role in osteoarthritis progression but in which the origin of calcified extracellular vesicles (EVs) and their effects remain unknown. Here, we demonstrate that pathological cartilage calcification occurs in the early stage of the osteoarthritis in which the calcified EVs are closely involved. Autophagosomes carrying the minerals are released in EVs, and calcification is induced by those autophagy-regulated calcified EVs.

Prospective memory (PM), which enables one to remember to carry out delayed intentions, is crucial for everyday functioning. PM commonly deteriorates upon cognitive decline in older adults, but several studies have shown that PM in older adults can be improved by training. The current study aimed to summarise this evidence by conducting a qualitative systematic analysis and quantitative meta-analysis of the effects of PM training in older adults, for which systematic searches were conducted across seven databases (Cochrane Library, Embase, PubMed, PsycInfo, Web of Science, CINAHL and Scopus).

Young adults with borderline personality disorder (BPD) and major depressive disorder (MDD) have a relatively high comorbidity rate; however, whether they share a neurobiological basis remains controversial. Although previous studies have reported respective brain alterations, the common and distinct gray matter changes between two disorders are still inconsistent. We conducted a meta-analysis using anisotropic effect size-based algorithms (ASE-SDM) to identify consistent findings from whole-brain voxel-based morphometry (VBM) studies of gray matter volume (GMV) in 274 young adults (< 45 years old) with BPD and 1576 with MDD.

Temperature field calculation is an important step in infrared image simulation. However, the existing solutions, such as heat conduction modelling and pre-generated lookup tables based on temperature calculation tools, are difficult to meet the requirements of high-performance simulation of infrared images based on three-dimensional scenes under multi-environmental conditions in terms of accuracy, timeliness, and flexibility. In recent years, machine learning-based temperature field prediction methods have been proposed, but these methods only consider the influence of meteorological parameters on the temperature value, while not considering the geometric structure and the thermophysical parameters of the object, which results in the low accuracy.
