Objective: The beta-coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has changed the clinical approach of 93% of urologists worldwide, and this situation has affected the use of laparoscopic and robot-assisted laparoscopic methods, which are known as minimally invasive surgery (MIS). This study aimed to determine the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on MIS in urology practice at national level.
Design, Setting And Participants: A total of 234 urologists in Turkey participated in an online survey between August 22 and September 23, 2020.

Purpose: To investigate the risk of sarcopenia in hospitalized older patients and to assess the associations between sarcopenia risk and health care outcomes including dependency, malnutrition, and dysphagia.
Methods: This multicenter cross-sectional study was a part of the annual National Prevalence Measurement of Quality of Care (LPZ) in Turkey. Hospitalized patients age 65 and older were included in the study.
Long noncoding RNAs (LncRNAs) regulate epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT). EMT involves myofibroblast differentiation and pulmonary fibrosis (PF). We aimed to determine the expression profiles of HOTAIR, CARLo-5, and CD99P1 LncRNAs in EMT-mediated myofibroblast differentiation in A549 cells and fibrotic human lungs and to explain their roles.

Purpose: Biliary atresia (BA) is a disease that manifests as jaundice after birth and leads to progressive destruction of the ductal system in the liver. The aim of this study was to investigate histopathological changes and immunohistochemically examine the expression of glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF), synaptophysin, and S-100 protein in the gallbladder of BA patients.
Methods: The study included a BA group of 29 patients and a control group of 41 children with cholecystectomy.
Purpose: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disorder characterized by insulin deficiency or insulin resistance. Pregabalin (PGB) is an antiepileptic drug with proven efficacy in the treatment of epilepsy, generalized anxiety disorder, and neuropathic pain. In this study, we aimed to investigate the protective effects of PGB in brain tissue of rats with streptozotocin (STZ)-induced experimental diabetes.

We aimed to examine the relationship between these patients' admission lactate levels and their 1-, 3-, and 12-month mortality rates in order to evaluate the prognostic value of lactate levels.
Methods: Our data were obtained retrospectively from 568 patients diagnosed with acute ischemic stroke at our emergency department between 1 January 2017 and 1 January 2018.
Aims: Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a risk factor for severe COVID-19. Our aim was to compare the clinical outcomes of patients with and without T2DM during the first hit of COVID-19 in Istanbul.
Methods: A retrospective population-based study was conducted including all consecutive adult symptomatic COVID-19 cases.
Objective: To compare the advanced glycation end products (AGEs) levels in follicular fluid according to the different ovarian responses of women who underwent controlled ovarian stimulation due to unexplained infertility and to examine the relationship between these levels and pregnancy outcomes.
Methods: Sixty-three women who underwent fresh IVF/ICSI cycles with GNRH antagonist protocol were divided into 3 groups according to the number of retrieved oocytes as suboptimal (4-9 oocytes), optimal (10-15 oocytes) and high (>15 oocytes) responders. AGEs levels in follicular fluid were measured by ELISA method.
Background/aim: Since hypotension is one of the most common complications experienced during hemodialysis (HD), and there are studies indicating that stimulation of the P6 (Neiguan) acupuncture point affects blood pressure, this study examines the effect of acupressure performed on this point on blood pressure regulation as well as its effect on symptoms such as hypotension-associated fatigue and pain. This randomized controlled trial was conducted in order to determine the effect of 12-session body acupressure, performed by electrostimulation device, on blood pressure, headache, and fatigue level in individuals suffering from hypotension during hemodialysis.
Methods: The study was conducted with a total of 135 patients, including 67 patients in the intervention group and 68 patients in the placebo group at four hemodialysis centers located in two city centers.
Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the effect of Reiki on stress levels of individuals caring for patients with cancer.
Methods: The study was conducted a pretest-posttest, single-blind randomized controlled trial and qualitative study using a semi-structured in-depth interview. In this study, women who were primary caregivers of patients with cancer treated in a university hospital were randomized to Reiki and sham Reiki groups.
Background: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has been reported to be associated with a more severe course in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). However, severe adverse outcomes are not recorded in all patients. In this study, we assessed disease outcomes in patients with and without T2DM hospitalized for COVID-19.

Therefore, a consensus on nocturnal CCD usage is lacking.
Purpose: The purpose of this clinical study was to assess the effects of nocturnal denture usage on cardiorespiratory stability by using pulse oximetry (PO).

Background: By examining patients with testicular torsion (TT) that caused problems in medicolegal terms, the present study aims to define markers causing medical neglect or malpractice in similar conditions and perform a retrospective examination to characterize the medical aspects of patients with TT.
Methods: In this study, 53 patients who underwent orchiectomy for TT following interventions made between 2004 and 2019 in different hospitals of Turkey and had satisfactory clinical findings in their files based on medicolegal inspections were included.
Results: The median age of the patients was nine years.
Objectives: Lung transplant is the most important treatment approach that improves the life expectancy and quality of life for patients with cystic fibrosis with end-stage lung disease. In this study, we retros-pectively analyzed patients with cystic fibrosis who were referred to our lung transplant program in Turkey.
Materials And Methods: We evaluated 14 patients with cystic fibrosis who were referred to our lung transplant clinic between December 2016 and December 2019.
Introduction: The aim of this study was to evaluate the delayed chest closure (DCC) results in patients who underwent lung transplantation.
Methods: Sixty patients were evaluated retrospectively. Only bilateral lung transplantations and DCC for oversized lung allograft (OLA) were included in the study.
Purpose: To evaluate the corneal and anterior chamber morphology in phakic eyes with noninfectious intraocular inflammation.
Methods: This study included 59 eyes with active uveitis, 62 with inactive uveitis, and 95 healthy eyes. Corneal endothelial cell density, hexagonal cell ratio, coefficient of variation (CV), corneal thickness and volume, maximum keratometry, and anterior chamber volume and depth (ACD) measurements were performed using a specular microscope and Pentacam HR.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFA series of cholesterol and based hydrophobic urea and thiourea compounds were synthesized and successfully used as a cocatalyst for L-proline catalyzed aldol reactions in the presence of water. The anticonfigured products were obtained with good yields (up to 94%), high diastereoselectivities (up to 95:5), and high enantiomeric excesses (up to 93% ). The successful results for catalytic efficiency of L-proline in the presence of water reveal the importance of the hydrophobic nature of cholesterol and diosgenin parts of thiourea on the reactivity and selectivity in the presence of water.
