Background: Tissue-based genomic classifiers (GCs) have been developed to improve prostate cancer (PCa) risk assessment and treatment recommendations.

Purpose: To summarize the impact of the Decipher, Oncotype DX Genomic Prostate Score (GPS), and Prolaris GCs on risk stratification and patient-clinician decisions on treatment choice among patients with localized PCa considering first-line treatment.

Background: Hospitalists working outside the Veterans Affairs (VA) system frequently will serve Veterans receiving care for acute conditions and/or awaiting transfer to VA facilities.

Objective: To perform a scoping review of health conditions and associated outcomes relevant to hospital medicine in US Veterans who served in active duty or reserve deployed roles after November 9, 2001.

Methods: A search of MEDLINE and Embase was performed using a combination of terms related to military service period and health conditions, yielding 5634 citations published after January 1, 2013.

Point-of-Care Ultrasound in Post-acute and Long-Term Care: A Scoping Review.

Objectives: Point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) is an emerging application of ultrasonography that is being integrated into patient care in many medical specialties. The post-acute and long-term care (PALTC) setting has opportunities to adopt POCUS as a diagnostic aid to improve patient outcomes. We aim (1) to describe the current use of POCUS in PALTC and (2) to examine how the use of POCUS can advance in PALTC settings.

The Ethical Obligation to Treat Infectious Patients: A Systematic Review of Reasons.

Background: Inclusion of diverse patient populations in stroke rehabilitation clinical trials is key for generalizability and detecting differences in subgroups. The aim of this study was to assess the reporting and inclusion of race, ethnicity, and sex in publications in post-stroke motor recovery clinical trials over the past 5 years.

Methods: We conducted a systematic review of stroke motor recovery trials conducted only within the United States with at least one control group and published between 2019 and 2023.

Health Care Team Interventions to Reduce Distress Behaviors in Older Adults: A Systematic Review.

Objectives: This review examines health care team-focused interventions on managing persistent or recurrent distress behaviors among older adults in long-term residential or inpatient health care settings.

Methods: We searched interventions addressing health care worker (HCW) knowledge and skills related to distress behavior management using Ovid MEDLINE, Elsevier Embase, and Ovid PsycINFO from December 2002 through December 2022.

Results: We screened 6,582 articles; 29 randomized trials met inclusion criteria.

Introduction: Trauma is the leading cause of death and disability in children. Differences in mechanism, injury pattern, severity, and physiology in this population distinguish pediatric trauma patients from adults. Educational techniques including simulation and didactics may improve pediatric readiness in this setting.

Adherence to PRISMA 2020 reporting guidelines and scope of systematic reviews published in nursing: A cross-sectional analysis.

Introduction: Systematic reviews are considered the highest level of evidence that can help guide evidence-informed decisions in nursing practice, education, and even health policy. Systematic review publications have increased from a sporadic few in 1980s to more than 10,000 systematic reviews published every year and around 30,000 registered in prospective registries.

Methods: A cross-sectional design and a variety of data sources were triangulated to identify the journals from which systematic reviews would be evaluated for adherence to Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) 2020 reporting guidelines and scope.

Introduction: As the older adult population increases, hospitals treat more older adults with injuries. After leaving, these patients suffer from decreased mobility and independence, relying on care from others. Family members often assume this responsibility, mostly informally and unpaid.

Interventions to Improve Long-Term Adherence to Physical Rehabilitation: A Systematic Review.

Objective: To evaluate the impact of physical rehabilitation interventions, supplemented with one or more adherence-enhancing components, on outcomes among adults with hip or knee osteoarthritis or chronic lower back pain.

A systematic analysis was undertaken to evaluate the prognostic ability of three genomic classifiers, Decipher, GPS, and Prolaris, for biochemical recurrence, development of metastases and prostate cancer-specific mortality in patients with localized prostate cancer.

Background: Equitable sex- and gender-based representation in clinical trials is an essential step to ensuring evidence-based care for women. While multi-institutional actions have led to significant improvements in the inclusion of women in trials, inequity persists in areas like sex-neutral cancers and cardiovascular disease. We sought to identify strategies described or evaluated to boost the inclusion of women in clinical trials.

AMCP's new election process: Designed for organizational effectiveness.

The AMCP Board of Directors appointed a Task Force on Leadership Development in 2021 with the charge to recommend a volunteer leadership structure that aligns with AMCP's contemporary needs and fosters the development of future Board members. Based on the Task Force's recommendations and with input from AMCP members, the AMCP Board of Directors amended AMCP's governance model in early 2023.
