This paper aims to use non-linear physical analysis to calculate the displacement of beams and slabs in a cracked state. This study uses the commercial software SAP2000 to perform a numerical analysis using the finite element formulation, applying the multi-layer method. Initially, a parametric study was carried out to evaluate the vertical displacement for service loads of reinforced concrete beams and slabs using different spans, support conditions and geometry.

Unlabelled: We compared combination treatment with teriparatide plus raloxifene with teriparatide alone in women with postmenopausal osteoporosis in a 6-month double-blind, placebo-controlled trial that measured biochemical markers of bone turnover and BMD. Markers of bone formation and spine BMD increased similarly with teriparatide alone and combination therapy. However, combination therapy induced a significantly smaller increase in bone resorption versus teriparatide alone and significantly increased total hip BMD versus baseline.

The prevalence of child psychopathology, however, has not been assessed in a population-based sample exposed to different levels of mass trauma or across a range of disorders.
Objective: To determine prevalence and correlates of probable mental disorders among New York City, NY, public school students 6 months following the September 11, 2001, World Trade Center attack.
Problem: After the Soviet Union dissolved in 1989, it became apparent that there was little recognition of the problems of child abuse and neglect, professionally, legally, or societally. There were no effective systems or laws in place to deal with these problems.
Method: Beginning in 1995 the Children's Mental Health Alliance, in conjunction with the Open Society Institute began conducting trainings in Eastern Europe [Journal of the American Academy of Child Adolescent Psychiatry 39 (2000) 660].

The transition of the Eastern European countries in the past 12 years from totalitarian, communist societies to democratic societies has had a broad impact on children's mental health, both positively and negatively. This transition has not been without economic difficulties. This paper describes the evolution of child and adolescent mental health emergency services in Eastern European countries over the past decade since the dissolution of the Iron Curtain. Methods: After intraduodenal administration of an oleate solution, mimicking a meal, the distal bowel motility and the plasma levels of bile acids, cholecystokinin (CCK), and neurotensin were monitored in patients operated on with restorative proctocolectomy (n = 4) or low anterior resection of the rectum (n = 4). Investigations were performed both with and without a diverting loop ileostomy.
Background: This study was aimed to investigate the effect of long-term treatment with high-protease pancreatic extract on the recurrent abdominal pain of patients with chronic pancreatitis.
Methods: Twenty-six patients with a firm diagnosis of chronic pancreatitis and a pattern of recurrent pain were recruited and randomly assigned to treatment with pancreatic extract (Pancrex-Duo capsules, each containing 34,375 USP units of protease in enteric-coated microspheres) or placebo, at a dose of four capsules four times daily, for 4 months. At the end of the first period patients were switched to the other medication for the next 4 months.

We have studied the basal release of cholecystokinin (CCK) and the CCK response to gastrin-releasing peptide (GRP) in man. GRP infusion was followed by a substantial and immediate release of CCK. Oleic acid increased the pancreatic secretion of bicarbonate and amylase and the concentrations of secretin and CCK in plasma and provoked gallbladder emptying. Oleyl alcohol only increased the amylase output slightly, but significantly.
