This review aims to address the procedures and indications, required for the application of the mesenchymal stem cells treatment strategy of regenerative dentistry. The use of ozone therapy for treatment of periodontal disease: a split-mouth, randomized, controlled clinical trial.

Collagenated heterologous cortico-cancelleus bone mix stimulated dental pulp derived stem cells.

Collagenated heretologous cortico-cancelleus bone mix (CHCCBM) is largely employed in maxillary and dental surgery for regeneration procedures, and is similar to human bone from chemical and physical point of view and promotes osteogenesis. In order to get more inside how this biomaterial induces osteoblast gene expression to promote bone formation, the mRNA levels of bone related genes were compared in human osteoblasts and dental pulp stem cells, using real time RT-PCR. The obtained results demonstrated that CHCCBM enhance stem cells differentiation and deposition of matrix by the activation of osteoblast related genes SP7, FOSL1 and SPP1.

Accuracy of the Cone Beam Computed Tomography in the Detection of Bone Invasion in Patients with Oral Cancer: A Systematic Review.

This review article aims to analyze the diagnostic accuracy of the cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) with respect to other imaging methods in detection of bone tissue invasion by oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). The review was carried out of English language studies in PubMed Search, National Library of Medicine, between 1990 and 2017. For each study, sensitivity, specificity, and positive (LR+) and negative (LR-) likelihood ratio, as well as the diagnostic accuracy, and positive and negative predictive values were calculated.

Gabapentin affects the expression of inflammatory mediators on healthy gingival cells.

Gabapentin is one of the most used drugs to treat postoperative pain with antihyperalgesic properties and has a unique mechanism of action, which differentiates it from other commonly used drugs. Various studies have shown that the perioperative use of gabapentin reduces postoperative pain. In our study, fragments of gingival tissue of healthy volunteers were collected during operation.

The role of implant-abutment connection in preventing bacterial leakage: a review.

Osseointegration can be affected by oral conditions; in particular, the micro gap at the implantabutment-connection (IAC) represents a site for dental plaque aggregation favoring bacterial leakage that can increase inflammatory cells at the level of the IAC, causing peri-implantitis. This micro gap, once early colonized, may constitute a bacterial reservoir that could subsequently contaminate fixture's surroundings and interfere with peri-implant tissues health. The aim of this review is to describe, according to the most recent literature, the different kind of implant-abutment connection and their ability to reduce bacterial leakage and thus preventing peri-implantitis.

A New Strategy Against Peri-Implantitis: Antibacterial Internal Coating.

The bacterial biofilm formation in the oral cavity and the microbial activity around the implant tissue represent a potential factor on the interface between bone and implant fixture that could induce an inflammatory phenomenon and generate an increased risk for mucositis and peri-implantitis. The aim of the present clinical trial was to investigate the bacterial quality of a new antibacterial coating of the internal chamber of the implant in vivo at six months. The PIXIT implant (Edierre srl, Genova Italy) is prepared by coating the implant with an alcoholic solution containing polysiloxane oligomers and chlorhexidine gluconate at 1%.

Reuterinos as adjuvant for peri-implant treatment: A pilot study.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of lozenges-containing Lactobacillus reuteri as an adjuvant treatment of peri-implant mucositis and to detect the level of L. reuteri colonization in the peri-implant tissues of treated patients. A total of 10 patients were selected.
