Conclusion: The common association between adult-onset otitis media with effusion (AO-OME) and squamous cell metaplasia (SCM) of the epithelium of Rosenmüller's fossa, which is near the Eustachian tube orifice, implies the predictive role of metaplasia, which probably compromises the drainage function of the middle ear.

Objective: To determine the effects of nasopharyngeal epithelial changes (SCM) on AO-OME. AO-OME is a multifactorial and insidious disease that may necessitate detailed investigation, i.

  • The study compares three histologic grading systems for bladder cancer (WHO 1973, WHO/ISUP 1998, and WHO 1999) to assess their effectiveness in classifying cancer growth patterns.
  • 87 bladder resections were analyzed, categorizing them into various grades and assessing primary and secondary cancer growth patterns based on these systems.
  • Significant statistical differences were found among the grading systems in relation to pathological staging, indicating that different systems may yield varying assessments of cancer severity.

Synchronous occurrence of epithelial and gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) in the stomach is uncommon. This association has often been detected incidentally on gastric mucosa or serosa, or occasionally intramurally, at surgery or gastroscopy for other reasons. Various hypotheses have been proposed regarding this simultaneous development, and it is not known whether or not such an association is a simple incidental coexistence or whether the two lesions are connected by a causal relationship.

Article Synopsis
  • This study investigates the relationship between mast cell (MC) counts in bladder carcinoma tissues and the histopathological grading of these tumors.
  • The research analyzed 56 bladder carcinoma specimens and found that the average MC concentration was significantly higher in the lamina propria compared to tumor tissue, but there was no correlation between MC counts and tumor grades.
  • The results suggest that while MC counts are not linked to the histopathological grading of tumors, they could be a valuable prognostic indicator for bladder cancer patients.
