View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground And Objective: Several randomized controlled trials (RCTs) have shown that benralizumab is characterized by a good profile of efficacy and safety, thereby being potentially able to elicit clinical remission on-treatment of severe eosinophilic asthma (SEA). The main goal of this multicentre observational study was to verify the effectiveness of benralizumab in inducing a sustained remission on-treatment of SEA in patients with or without comorbid chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP).
Methods: Throughout 2 years of treatment with benralizumab, a four-component evaluation of sustained remission of SEA was performed, including the assessment of SEA exacerbations, use of oral corticosteroids (OCSs), symptom control and lung function.
Two recent articles by the same research group documented that patients with severe eosinophilic asthma exhibit an increased proportion of a subtype of eosinophils, namely CD62L inflammatory eosinophils (iEos) and identified an intriguing correlation between such iEos and asthma control scores. Moreover, CD62L iEos were reduced after treatment with the anti-IL-5 monoclonal antibody mepolizumab. In the future, we believe that eosinophil subtypes could represent a useful biomarker in severe eosinophilic asthma, helping clinicians characterize patient endotypes and monitoring the response to biological drugs.

Methods: This is a retrospective observational study evaluating the effect of three months of treatment with different biologic drugs (benralizumab, dupilumab and omalizumab) on pulmonary hyperinflation in a cohort of patients with severe asthma already receiving regular triple inhaled therapy. Changes in RV, RV/TLC ratio, FRC and FRC/TLC ratio were the primary efficacy measures.
High-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) has recently emerged as a crucial therapeutic strategy for hypoxemic patients both in acute and chronic settings. Indeed, HFNC therapy is able to deliver higher fractions of inspired oxygen (FiO) with a heated and humidified gas flow ranging from 20 up to 60 L per minute, in a more comfortable way for the patient in comparison with Conventional Oxygen Therapy (COT). In fact, the flow keeps the epithelium of the airways adequately moisturized, thus positively affecting the mucus clearance.

Content: An electronic search of scientific literature published in 2021 and up to 2 years ago was performed using keyword search, with focus on observational studies published in PubMed, MEDLINE and Web of Science. It included: active university students of both sexes during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In the recent decade, we have seen major progress in quantifying the behaviors and the impact of scientists, resulting in a quantitative toolset capable of monitoring and predicting the career patterns of the profession. It is unclear, however, if this toolset applies to other creative domains beyond the sciences. In particular, while performance in the arts has long been difficult to quantify objectively, research suggests that professional networks and prestige of affiliations play a similar role to those observed in science, hence they can reveal patterns underlying successful careers.
