Purpose: Clostridioides difficile is the main cause of antibiotic related diarrhea and some ribotypes (RT), such as RT027, RT181 or RT078, are considered high risk clones. A fast and reliable approach for C. difficile ribotyping is needed for a correct clinical approach.

Whole-genome sequencing (WGS) is considered the gold standard for investigating outbreaks; however, the turnaround time is usually too long for clinical decision-making and the method is also costly. The aim of this study was to evaluate the performance of Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) and artificial intelligence tools as a first-line typing tool for typing carbapenemase-producing (CPK) in the hospital setting.

However, individual embryo culture is detrimental compared with high-density group culture due to the reduced concentration of putative embryotropins. The main aim of this study was to identify an individual culture system that is not detrimental over high-density group culture in the bovine model.

Purpose: It is unclear whether preoperative serum uric acid (SUA) elevation may play a role in the development of acute kidney injury (AKI) associated with cardiac surgery (CSA-AKI). We conducted a cohort study to evaluate the influence of preoperative hyperuricemia on AKI in patients at high risk for developing SC-AKI.
Design: Multicenter prospective international cohort study.
The increasing emissions of greenhouse gases (GHG) and pollutants like particulate matter and nitrogen oxides (NOx) have led to environmental concerns. Hybrid and electric powertrains are being introduced as means to reduce pollutant emissions, especially at the local level. Additionally, the finite availability of fossil fuel sources, which are used to produce gasoline and diesel, highlights the need for alternative technical solutions.

Unfortunately, static culture of ovarian tissue does not promote development of primordial to secondary follicles or sustain follicle viability and thereby limits the number of obtainable mature oocytes.

We evaluated FTIR for the characterization of an outbreak caused by Elizabethkingia miricola. During the 2020-2021 period, 26 isolates (23 clinical and 3 environmental) were collected and analyzed by FTIR (IR Biotyper) and core-genome MLST (cgMLST), in addition to antimicrobial susceptibility testing.

The prediction of CSA-AKI is crucial for early detection and treatment. Current predictive models may be improved by potentially useful preoperative and intraoperative information.

We propose the application of MALDI-TOF MS as a dual technique for the identification of bacteria and the detection of resistance, with no extra hands-on procedures. We have developed a machine learning approach that uses the random forest algorithm for the direct prediction of carbapenemase-producing Klebsiella pneumoniae (CPK) isolates, based on the spectra of complete cells.

These species may have different acquired antimicrobial resistance and virulence mechanisms, and their identification is challenging. This study aims to develop predictive models based on matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization-time of flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS) profiles and machine learning for species-level identification.

An increase in the specificity of scientific goals-from to -requires parallel developments in strategies that translate terrestrial Mars-analog research into confident identification of rover-explorable targets on Mars. Precisely how to integrate terrestrial, ground-based analyses with orbital data sets and transfer those lessons into rover-relevant search strategies for biosignatures on Mars remains an open challenge.

Introduction: Here, we propose a novel modified Carba NP test for detecting KPC-producing Enterobacterales using imipenem/relebactam.
Material And Methods: The test performance was evaluated in a random selection of 160 previously molecularly characterized clinical isolates carrying the 110 bla, 1 bla, 12 bla, 4 bla, 3 bla and 42 bla genes. The proposed method relies on the detection of imipenem hydrolysis in an imipenem/relebactam antibiotic solution and subsequent visual interpretation by color change.
Vancomycin-resistant represents a health threat due to its ability to spread and cause outbreaks. MALDI-TOF MS has demonstrated its usefulness for identification, but its implementation for antimicrobial resistance detection is still under evaluation. This study assesses the repeatability of MALDI-TOF MS for peak analysis and its performance in the discrimination of vancomycin-susceptible (VSE) from vancomycin-resistant isolates (VRE).

First, a standardized procedure with an online software for data analysis was designed.
