Design and fabrication of a semi-transparent solar cell considering the effect of the layer thickness of MoO/Ag/MoO transparent top contact on optical and electrical properties.

We conducted the present study to design and manufacture a semi-transparent organic solar cell (ST-OSC). First, we formed a transparent top contact as MoO/Ag/MoO in a dielectric/metal/dielectric (DMD) structure. We performed the production of an FTO/ZnO/P3HT:PCBM/MoO/Ag/MoO ST-OSC by integrating MoO/Ag/MoO (10/[Formula: see text]/[Formula: see text] nm) instead of an Ag electrode in an opaque FTO/ZnO/P3HT:PCBM/MoO/Ag (-/40/130/10/100 nm) OSC, after theoretically achieving optimal values of optical and electrical parameters depending on Ag layer thickness.

Layer-by-layer hybrid chemical doping for high transmittance uniformity in graphene-polymer flexible transparent conductive nanocomposite.

A traditional transparent conducting film (TCF) such as indium tin oxide (ITO) exhibits poor mechanical flexibility and inconsistent transmittance throughout the UV-VIS-NIR spectrum. Recent TCFs like graphene films exhibit high sheet resistance (R) due to defect induced carrier scattering. Here we show a unique hybrid chemical doping method that results in high transmittance uniformity in a layered graphene-polymer nanocomposite with suppressed defect-induced carrier scattering.

Vitamin C attenuates methotrexate-induced oxidative stress in kidney and liver of rats.

Like several other anticancer drugs, methotrexate (MTX) causes side effects, such as neuropathic pain, hepatotoxicity, and nephrotoxicity. Abnormal production of reactive oxygen species has been suspected in the pathophysiology of MTX-induced hepatorenal toxicity. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the probable protective role of vitamin C (Vit C) on oxidative stress induced by MTX in the liver and kidney tissues of rats.

Effect of Curcumin on Systemic T Helper 17 Cell Response; Gingival Expressions of Interleukin-17 and Retinoic Acid Receptor-Related Orphan Receptor γt; and Alveolar Bone Loss in Experimental Periodontitis.

Background: Curcumin has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects and is reported to have many biologic activities. The current study examines effect of curcumin on: 1) systemic T helper 17 (Th17) cell response; 2) gingival expressions of interleukin (IL)-17 and retinoic acid receptor-related orphan receptor (ROR) γt; and 3) alveolar bone loss (ABL) in experimental periodontitis.

Methods: Thirty-eight male albino Wistar rats were divided into four groups: 1) group 1 = periodontitis; 2) group 2 = periodontitis with curcumin treatment; 3) group 3 = periodontally healthy with curcumin treatment; and 4) group 4 = periodontally healthy.

The apoptotic effects of silibinin on MDA-MB-231 and MCF-7 human breast carcinoma cells.

Background: Silibinin is a bioactive flavonolignan extracted from milk thistle, known as Silybum marianum. Silibinin exerts strong antiproliferative, proapoptotic, and anti-inflammatory effects. Many studies have shown that silibinin inhibits experimentally induced malignancies of the liver, prostate, skin, and colon as well as promotes inhibition of the proliferation of cancer cell lines in vitro.

Effects of pentoxifylline and alpha lipoic acid on methotrexate-induced damage in liver and kidney of rats.

The aim of the current study was to investigate the probable protective effects of Pentoxifylline (PTX) and Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA), which display anti-oxidative efficacy against hepatotoxicity and nephrotoxicity, those being the major side effects of Methotrexate (MTX). Rats were divided into four groups: a control group; MTX (20mg/kg/day) group; MTX+PTX (20mg/kg/day+50mg/kg/day) group; and an MTX+ALA (20mg/kg/day+100mg/kg/day) group. At the end of the experiment, biochemical, histochemical and immunohistochemical analyses were performed on liver and kidney tissues of rats.

The purpose of this study was to provide a morphologic description and assessment on the formation level of the sural nerve (SN) and its components. Also we aimed to reveal histological features of the SN components. An anatomical study of the formation of the SN was carried out on 100 limbs from 50 embalmed foetuses.

Congenital malalignment of the great toenails is a nail disorder caused by the malalignment of the nail matrix, which results in lateral growth of the nail plate. It may cause onychogryphosis and, in infants and children, ingrown nails. We report an occurrence of this deformity in dizygotic twins.

Self-healing juvenile cutaneous mucinosis.

Self-healing juvenile cutaneous mucinosis was encountered in a 15-year-old boy who presented with characteristic cutaneous findings and a clinical course of final spontaneous resolution. The interesting point is the presence of numerous nodules found in unusual locations. To date, nodules occurring on the long axis of the extremities have not been reported.

Non-invasive methods in the diagnosis of chronic major-vessel thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension.

The diagnosis of chronic major-vessel thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension was made in a 63-year-old man by noninvasive methods (Echo, CT, MRI) and confirmed by pulmonary angiography and surgery. All these methods proved very useful in detecting and defining this rare entity.

Right ventricular cardiomyopathy similar to Uhl's anomaly with atrial flutter and complete AV block.

We report an adult patient with right ventricular cardiomyopathy similar to Uhl's anomaly. In this patient an interesting manifestation is a transient atrial flutter with complete A-V block. Right ventricular cardiomyopathy (arrhythmogenic right ventricular dysplasia) is considered a cause of life-threatening arrhythmia.

Pericardial involvement in familial Mediterranean fever.

Two patients with familial Mediterranean fever showed the classic features of pericardial involvement and one of them (Case 2) had pericardial effusion detected by echocardiography. These and previously published cases show that familial Mediterranean fever should be considered as a cause of pericarditis and/or pericardial effusion.

Anomalous origin of the right coronary artery from the left sinus of Valsalva: echocardiographic diagnosis--a case report.

Anomalous origin of the right coronary artery from the left sinus of Valsalva is a rare congenital abnormality diagnosed by coronary angiography. This is the first report of an echocardiographic diagnosis of a patient with this anomaly, as far as is known.

Behçet's disease: cardiac and pulmonary involvement.

A patient with Behçet's disease who had pulmonary and cardiac involvement is described. The cardiac lesion was endocarditis in the right ventricle and a thrombus on this lesion which caused pulmonary emboli. The thrombus was excised completely and hemoptysis stopped.
