PET-MRI for evaluation of response to radiochemotherapy in patients with locally advanced cervical cancer.

Objective: We aimed to analyze the diagnostic test accuracy of positron emission tomography and a magnetic resonance imaging scan (PET-MRI) fusion in evaluating tumor response after radiochemotherapy in patients with locally advanced cervical cancer.

Methods: Patients treated at two institutes between January 2008 and December 2016 were studied retrospectively. Re-evaluation by positron emission tomography (PET) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) was performed in a non-concurrent way 4-8 weeks after treatment.

[Sexual function and quality of life in locally advanced cervical cancer].

Objectives: Sexual dysfunction is currently the most common complication of cancer. Most of the time, patients who are concerned by locally advanced cervical cancer are in a period of sexual activity. The primary objective of this study was to assess the quality of life and sexual function of patients with locally advanced cervical cancer who were in remission.

PICALM-MLLT10 acute myeloid leukemia: a French cohort of 18 patients.

The PICALM-MLLT10 fusion gene, generated by the t(10;11)(p12-13;q14-21) translocation, is a rare but recurrent event in acute leukemias. In this study, we assessed the characteristics and outcome of 18 PICALM-MLLT10 AML patients. As compared with non PICALM-MLLT10 patients (n=72), PICALM-MLLT10 AML were characterized by more frequent extramedullary diseases, CD7 expression and higher platelet counts.

Heat-related illnesses during the 2003 heat wave in an emergency service.

Introduction: This study describes patients admitted to an urban emergency service in France during the 2003 heat wave. Patients with heat-related illnesses were studied and comparison was made between those who died and survivors.

Methods: A retrospective study of about 760 records concerning 726 patients aged over 65 years admitted during August 2003 to a French emergency department.

Evaluation of O-(2-[18F]-Fluoroethyl)-L-Tyrosine in the Diagnosis of Glioblastoma.

Objective: To assess the feasibility of synthesis of O-(2-[(18)F]-fluoroethyl)-l-tyrosine (FET), a new positron emission tomographic (PET) tracer described in several studies but not yet considered standard in management of glioma, in routine practice and to determine FET uptake in a homogeneous group of patients with suspected high-grade glioma.

Design: Prospective nonrandomized trial.

Patients: Twelve patients with suspicion of high-grade glioma.

Branching patterns for arterioles and venules of the human cerebral cortex.

Branching patterns of microvascular networks influence vascular resistance and allow control of peripheral flow distribution. The aim of this paper was to analyze these branching patterns in human cerebral cortex. Digital three-dimensional images of the microvascular network were obtained from thick sections of India ink-injected human brain by confocal laser microscopy covering a large zone of secondary cortex.

Indium-111-pentetreotide scintigraphy and somatostatin receptor subtype 2 expression: new prognostic factors for malignant well-differentiated endocrine tumors.

Purpose: Well-differentiated metastatic endocrine carcinomas are difficult to manage because of variable disease outcome. New prognostic factors are required. These tumors overexpress somatostatin receptors (sst), implying the use of somatostatin analogs for tumor localization by somatostatin receptor scintigraphy using indium-111-pentetreotide ((111)In-pentetreotide) and for medical treatment.

Effect of continuous irradiation with a very low dose of gamma rays on life span and the immune system in SJL mice prone to B-cell lymphoma.

Ionizing radiation has been shown to have dose- and dose-rate-dependent carcinogenic effects on the hematopoietic and lymphoreticular systems. We report here that continuous exposure to a low dose of gamma rays influences the course of spontaneous B-cell lymphoma in SJL mice. We studied the biological effects of 10 cGy year(-1) gamma rays on the life span of 560 4-week-old SJL/J female mice and on various parameters of the cell-mediated immune response.

[Sport practice and cannabis consumption in a representative sample of French high school adolescents].

Purpose: - To assess the association between cannabis consumption and sport practice.

Methods: We randomised a representative sample of 1,506 girls and 1,420 boys from the third to the last year of school in the French Midi-Pyrénées region, excluding classes reserved for children practising high level sport. Information was collected by self-answer questionnaire.
