General movements assessment and Alberta Infant Motor Scale in neurodevelopmental outcome of preterm infants.

Aim: We aimed to compare the General Movement Assessment (GMA) and the Alberta Infant Motor Scale (AIMS) in preterm infants for the prediction of cerebral palsy (CP) and neurodevelopmental delay (NDD). Additionally, we aimed to evaluate the diagnostic compatibility of the General Movement Optimality Score (GMOS), the Motor Optimality Score (MOS), and AIMS for detecting CP and NDD.

Method: Seventy-five preterm infants with gestational age (GA) 24-37 weeks were enrolled.

Cross-Cultural Adaptation of the Developmental Coordination Disorder Questionnaire in Turkish Children.

The Developmental Coordination Disorder Questionnaire (DCDQ'07) is an instrument for screening children between 5 and 15 years of age. Although it is popular, this instrument has not been adapted for use with Turkish children, and there is no valid similar screening tool in Turkey. Thus, this study aimed to provide a cross-cultural adaptation of the DCDQ'07 for Turkish children.

Evaluation of Corneal Biomechanical Changes After Collagen Crosslinking in Patients with Progressive Keratoconus by Ocular Response Analyzer.

Objectives: To evaluate corneal biomechanics before and after collagen crosslinking (CXL) in patients with progressive keratoconus.

Materials And Methods: In this prospective study, CXL was performed under topical anesthesia after removal of the epithelium (epi-off technique) by applying ultraviolet A (UVA) light at a wavelength of 365 nm and power of 3 mW/cm2 or 5.4 joule/cm2.

A newborn with hemorrhagic meningoencephalitis due to Proteus mirabilis.

Neonatal meningoencephalitis is a severe condition for the developing brain of a newborn. Radiologic findings of necrosis and liquefaction due to hemorrhagic meningoencephalitis may be confused with brain abcess. In this article, we report a neonate having liquefaction necrosis due to hemorrhagic meningoencephalitis mimicing intracranial abscess due to Proteus mirabilis.

Self-concept in children and adolescents with epilepsy: The role of family functioning, mothers' emotional symptoms and ADHD.

Purpose: This study aimed to identify the associated factors of poor self-concept in children and adolescents with epilepsy.

Methods: Fifty-three patients with uncomplicated epilepsy (aged 7-18years) and 28 healthy controls were included. Study measures included the Piers-Harris 2 Self-Concept Scale, Family Assessment Device (FAD), Turgay DSM-IV based ADHD rating Scale (T-DSM-IV-S), Conners' Teacher Rating Scale (CTRS-R), Beck Depression Inventory and State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI).

Ecbalium elaterium or squirting cucumber is a plant growing in the Mediterranean region, belong to Cucurbitaceae family. Its juice has been used as an herbal medicine since ancient times because of its cathartic and anti-inflammatory effects. It has been reported to cause upper airway edema, especially after the administration of its undiluted form.
