Objective: Colleges and universities need effective strategies to help students develop medication-use behaviors that positively support their well-being. This pilot study evaluated the utility of Fink's Taxonomy of Significant Learning (FTSL), an evidence-based instructional strategy, to create long-lasting changes in students' well-being during a pharmacy general education course.

The antioxidant effect of purified phytic acid (PPA) from rice bran (rice polishing by-product) combined with sodium erythorbate (SE) was evaluated for the first time in mortadella (added with 60% mechanically separated meat), a cured product with high-fat content and highly prone to oxidation, characteristic in Brazil. PPA proved effective compared to standard analytical grade phytic acid (SPA). Two central composite rotational designs (CCRD) (A and B) were employed to investigate the influence of PPA and SE, and SPA and SE, respectively, on mortadella lipid oxidation evaluated by TBARS after 30 days at 30 °C.

This study evaluated the inhibitory effect of phytic acid (PA) on the spore germination and vegetative cells growth of type A, as well as its effect in combination with maltodextrin (MD) in cooked sausages. The addition of 1% PA showed a satisfactory inhibition of spores' germination and vegetative cells growth of in BHI media. This study aimed to obtain and characterize a hybrid dye and use it as a replacer for curing salt in the production of pink/red color in mortadella stored for 40 days. Background: Pain is more common among people living with HIV (PLWH) than their counterparts; however, it is unclear whether analgesic use differs by HIV status.

Methods: We analyzed Medicaid pharmacy claims from adults in 14 US states from 2001 to 2009 to identify opioid and non-opioid analgesic prescriptions and compared prescribing trends by HIV status. Methods: Two hundred and seventy Cobb broiler chickens from 42 to 48 days old were slaughtered according to the standard industry practice and scalded in five temperature/time combinations-T1, 54°C/210 s; T2, 55°C/180 s; T3, 56°C/150 s; T4, 57°C/120 s; T5, 58°C/90 s.

Results: Scalding temperature increase resulted in higher values of external and ventral lightness and in protein functionality reduction-determined by emulsification capacity and protein denaturation-in chicken breast fillets 24 h post-mortem.

The influence of stunning methods on the physicochemical and biochemical parameters of chicken breast meat, as indicators of bird stress, was investigated. A total of 200 Cobb broiler chickens aged from 42 to 48 d were submitted to gas or electrical stunning and slaughtered according to the standard industry practice. Pectoralis major muscles (24 h post-mortem) from broilers stunned by electronarcosis exhibited a higher L* and R-value and lower pH45min than did those from gas stunning, indicating modification of the glycolytic rate.
