Context: The intrauterine device (IUD) is one type of long-acting reversible contraceptive that is becoming increasingly popular among patients and healthcare providers alike, though many are deterred from using this option due to pain or fear of pain with IUD insertion. While the IUD insertion process itself is standardized, the use of pain medication is not. There is a lack of research regarding provider preference in analgesic use for IUD insertion procedures, which analgesics are being provided to patients, and under which circumstances.

The Role of Fish Skin Xenografts in Healing Complex Wounds: A Brief Case Report.

Non-healing wounds profoundly impact patient quality of life and present a significant financial burden. The Kerecis™ fish skin xenograft is a decellularized skin matrix that has been introduced to treat complicated wounds. The objective of this presentation is to highlight the use of fish skin xenograft in the treatment of a complex right flank wound with stool contamination, necrotizing soft tissue infection due to perforated colon cancer, and sepsis.

Auditory hallucinations are sounds that patients perceive as coming from outside of their body. Though the mechanism causing auditory hallucinations is not entirely understood, there is a significant amount of evidence suggesting that auditory hallucinations leave lasting impacts on the brain in the same regions that are involved in auditory processing. Sudden sensorineural hearing loss (SSNHL) is a poorly understood condition in which patients lose their hearing typically in the fifth decade of life.

Differential Diagnosis and Interdisciplinary Workup of a Pediatric Patient With an Unknown Immune Condition: Chronic Respiratory Distress Secondary to Viral Illness and Developmental Consequences.

We present a case of a three-year-old African American male, born at term, who initially presented with bronchiolitis at six months and has since experienced recurrent episodes of respiratory distress and hospitalizations. The patient also has severe eczema, developmental delays, and recurrent viral illnesses. Despite thorough evaluations from various specialists, such as pulmonology, allergy, and gastroenterology, the underlying cause remained elusive.

Robotic Single-Site Cholecystectomy: A Single-Center Retrospective Study.

Robotic Sigmoidectomy With Natural Orifice Specimen Extraction: A Single-Center Experience.

Background Natural orifice specimen extraction (NOSE) involves the removal of specimens through a naturally occurring orifice, such as the anus, rather than trans-abdominal extraction. NOSE procedures have been shown to significantly reduce postoperative complications and improve healing.  Objective The purpose of this case series is to report the outcomes of 27 patients undergoing sigmoidectomies through natural orifice specimen extraction.
